Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ok positive comments only so here we go...

We are still in the early phase of this long term project. The football is brilliant, but we are too open and the results are very inconsistent given the high variance game we play. We've shown some glimpses of just how good we can be, but we lack consistency. We are almost doing the hard part (dominating good teams and creating chances), but not doing the easy part (keeping a defensive shape, defending set pieces, playing into trouble). We also lack leaders, we dismantled the full leadership group (Lloris, Kane, Dier, Hojbjerg), and our current leaders (Son, Romero, Maddison) haven't stepped up tbh and aren't proper leaders. So we either go and buy experienced players (quick fixes) to give us that instant improvement and experience, or we continue on this bumpy journey until this young exciting team develops into an experienced team ready to win (could take 2 or 3 years). I'm hoping guys like VDV, Kulusevski and Solanke step up and become the new leaders!

We aren't as far away as people think. All we need is a bit of consistency and for certain players to step up and become leaders. I saw a clip yesterday of Rodri going crazy in the dressing room at the whole team after a defeat! Thats the type of characters we need but don't currently have. This is not an Ange problem. He can't coach that. He either buys them characters or allows players to develop into them leaders. And thats the difference between winning and losing these close games that we keep losing. All our wins have been emphatic and all our defeats have been close games where we were outfought.

Ange is in control of our play style which has given us some of the best Spurs performances I've seen, but in them tight games where its not going our way, you need players to step up and get you over the line. All them times City grind out ugly 1 goal wins - you think that was a Pep masterclass? No chance, Pep never plans on winning like that but his game plan obviously didn't go according to plan! But players like Dias and Rodri fight like their lives are on the line, and dig out a 1-0 win. Thats the piece we are missing. When for whatever reason the game isn't going your way (Fatigue, injuries, referee not letting game flow or just a poor performance), you need leaders who can just get you over the line! The winning ugly part is on the players not the manager and thats what we are missing.

I reckon you, the thread starter, have started to wobble.

I’m still up for giving him all of this season. I still want to believe in his second season magic. 1 cup every 18 years isn’t too much to ask of the universe is it?

He’s got us scoring goals as well. I wanted to be entertained. And I am.

Do I think he’s the Australian Alex Ferguson?? No. But I didn’t think that last October either. Whatever people wanted to think back then.

Exactly. I don't think this current team is worse than any other team we've had since 2019! And you have to factor in that we did lose Harry Kane which we knew was always going to be a big set back. We spent years dreading what we'd become once we sold him. And guess what, we didn't really regress! In fact we play better football now than we did in his final few years.

I don't see the massive panic. We were expecting to hit this rebuild eventually and here we are. If there is clearly no progress been made then we might change in the Summer but I can't see a mid season sacking like some are hyping

Excellent post.
We are playing well more often than playing badly. We lack defensive concentration and consistency

All the goals we've conceded this season in the league.

One from high line being exposed.

One from set piece.

The rest from... just poor defending? Those Brighton goals man... Fucking hell.

This is why our "expected points" has us in 4th. We shouldn't be conceding these goals from these positions. But we are.

Because we cannot defend well under Ange. It's just rank defending every week. It's happened so often for so long now, there is zero reason to think it will change.

The players aren't focused, they make stupid mistakes, the organisation is non existent, whatever the reason, it all falls on Ange. Simply put he is failing in a really important part of his job. No point playing great football, which is debateable, because Sunday, and Palace, and Coventry etc were pure dogshit, if you concede stupid goals.

What is it, 1 clean sheet in about 30+ games now? that is pathetic.

The guy has no hiding place.

This is also one of my defences of Ange. The fact is we conceded poor individual goals under experienced defensive managers like Mourinho and Conte too.

The other defence of him is that it is hard to see who could come in and do better than three points off third and still being in every single competition.

If someone I was playing with me in my later years on a Sunday had produced some of the defending I see in the box for us I would've ripped strips off them .
What I will say it's not a Spurs alone problem , some or a lot of the defending I see in the PL pitiful , players that are scared to tackle hard and absolutely shit themselves if they have to put their body in front of someone crossing or shooting , everybody twists and turns and squirms , "put your fucken body on the line you weak pricks " , but they don't .
It is a symptom of the times .

The thing is our defense underlying stats are very good. We haven't conceded more than most in the league. I think we're 2nd or 3rd for least conceded shots...

So for all the frothing by the usual suspects actually the system appears to be working well. We've so far sorted the highline and set piece issues of last year; we don't concede shots (because we dominate territory)

The problem - now - is that we can't defend the 12 yard box. This may be a by-product of structural issues OR just poor individual defending. However none of that gets Ange off the hook because these are (apart from Drag) HIS first choice defenders. Porro, Romero, VDV and Udogie are his 1st choice.

Of course going the other way we've scored more than any one else.

So... yeah it's hard to see who can come in a perform better with this group. But I'm sure we'll get him sacked anyway. remember how much better it was after we sacked Poch, Mourinho and Conte? Good times :cautious: :D

Can I get an Amen?
Pray Happy Sunday GIF

Points last season: 26
Points this season: 16

But xG and shit more important for the cope gang. :harrylol:

Do you people still exist?

Absolute drivel yet again by the usual clowns, no shock there.

This is supposed to be a positivity thread but you miserable arseholes cannot help yourself and troll in here just because people have a different opinion on the manager and have the gall to actually want a manger who wants to win here suceed.

The 🤡 sanctuary is well and truly up and running on this site.

Turns out our goal difference is genuinely good. I thought it was just because we spanked Everton 4-0 but when you score 4 regularly a few times in completely different situations it is less of a coincidence.
