The Problems at Spurs

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The board is the main problem. Can’t see how can anyone disagree.
Because he is getting nothing like the same results with the same squad as last year.....

He's making questionable tactical changes, usually too late and some are absolutely mystifying... Like trying to see out a game where the other team has repeatedly humped balls long by withdrawing 6 foot plus Harry Kane and replacing him with Danny "Time Bandits" Rose.

Poch is a hard task master. I think for players to consistently buy into that, there has to be the visible signs of growth and success. Rather than trophies and big investment in players/wage structure, The Stadium has become that focus. With the fiasco of wrong dates, wembley extensions, and MK Dons (!) I can see a drop in the motivation and energy levels of the players.

Liverpool slogged their guts to make it to the final. They lost. The response of the board was to back Klopp with even more funds. They have started their season with even more hunger and willingness to fight for their manager.

The sooner we are in (safety regs permitting) the better, in my opinion.

Football-wise: We won our opening three fixtures, lost away to the form team, lost at home narrowly to genuine title contenders and just lost away to Inter. Read the last clause again and then tell yourself things are going wrong. A bit Dr. Tottenham but, in disappointing, Spurs never disappoint.

The biggest problems as I see it are the stadium and Lloris' indiscretion.
You are missing the fact that the performances have not been great. I am sorry but, "[we] lost at home narrowly to genuine title contenders" is absolute bollocks. They absolutely blew us apart. Please don't come back with, "but we should have drawn if not for the ref". Yeah. Well, they should have scored about 10. The disappointing thing is that it made me realise what a superior team they are.
For Poch to say we are not realistic contenders in any competition is also worrying. If he believes that, then what is point of us? What are we actually aiming for? Under Poch we have gained more grit. Whenever we needed to hold on, I trusted the team to get it done. I fear we may have lost this, and I don't know why.

Not exactly "wing" more inverted wide forward, but yeah, that's exactly where he should be played, and Ive been saying the same since we bought him. To get the best out him, that's where he needs to be to get the best out of him.

He looked great dribbling in the wide left areas- I was surprised and genuinely impressed. I still prefer him out right but would have zero qualms playing him out left.

Good thread my friend...simply put the main issue (wherever it stems from and whoever is to blame) is lack of competition imo...

The 3 issues as I see it.

Some World Cup fatigue (predictable), lack of a striking option (predictable) and sudden loss of confidence (happens to nearly all teams)

What we face is a run many could not have foreseen and one many cannot now see an end to.

If we have a strong foundation (we do I believe) and the quality that cannot have disappeared overnight we will be fine and be stronger for it.

The key and many will not like it is seeing how Mourinho deals with his detractors when the chips are down.

Hyberbol and agendas to one side, let this thread be about what is actually wrong and what can be done in people’s opions to fix it.

We’re talking about the most crucial month in Pochs reign, and it’s only September!

Are things that bad, or is it just football?
We have a knack of thinking it’s bad behind the scenes, but for me the players turned up last night and put in a shift.

I’ll start and concede that certain transfers could and possibly should have happened in the summer.
Llorente and Sissoko clearly shouldn’t be here, and if Poch wanted Grealish we should have just stumped up the cash.

Fatigue? Yes, it is an issue, but we looked fresh yesterday, so it’s not the whole squad, and certainly not the main problem.

Rotation. Simply not enough rotation in the problem areas. Poch seems to think the full backs need to be fresh, while everyone else runs through treacle.

Stadium. Certainly not helping. We need a home and now.

A culmination of issues which makes us all right and all wrong on some levels, and I can’t think of any way to fix it outiside of the manager right now.

Between now and Christmas, we will see if Poch is The One, or if like most of the planet, he is at a total loss as to what’s going on with our team.
We are going through a bad patch, but have 1point more than last season after 5 games ( having faced Man U and Liverpool) , 2 points less than 16/17 after 5 ( when we also lost at Home in CL) and have 3 points more than we had in 15/16.
Last year we had only played Chelsea.
16/17 had only played Liverpool
15/16 only one Man U
We may have lost 3 for the first time under Pochettino , but we also won the first 3 for the first time under him,
None of the teams look really on it who had large numbers at WC.
We are notoriously slow starters.
We also have injuries to players this season that are key to our playing style.
No doubt if Wanyama or Sissoko we’re fit we’d be more solid defensively.

Pochettino trusts in what hes got, but unfortunately some of them haven’t performed for various reasons, be that returning form injury, loss of form or not up to fitness yet/jaded post WC

Throw into that the uncertainty around being homeless, and now our own fans getting restless

There’s no need to go all gooner.

Not just yet.

Plus an all singing all dancing new stadium, two of the best young English players in a generation and hungry young manager that could be the best thing that ever happened to Tottenham Hotspur F.C. o and we’ve lost 3games in a row.

Poch has been doing some dodgy tactics. But maybe that’s because we only have shit mids. And he can’t play like he wants us. And who should sign the players we want? The board. Who did the stadium fiasco? The board.

Whoever thought we didn’t need new players should be fired. Unbelievable. And one of the most mind blowing things I ever saw in the premier league.
