Not sure about that. Newcastle's defense has been greater than sum of parts but not really seen anything to say Botman is incredible. Being left-footed helps but Ben Davies played LCB and was a major reason we got top 4. Botman yet to do that.
Guimaraes over who?
Maybe Hoj but Hoj has better numbers this season. Not even close to Bentancur imo.
Botman is better than Dier and I really care very little for 'numbers' in a CM. Guimaraes is a silkier, more accomplished, more consistent footballer than Hojbjerg .. I'd take him all day next to Bentancur, who I wouldn't say is far better than him anyway. Similar level.
Joelinton/Guimaraes is a very good midfield platform ... I'd still take Trippier over anything we have too, despite Porro being in and the Emerson hot-streak..
