Competition The Race for 4th

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Says a number of factors:

- The fact that for the last 2 seasons he’s struggled to hold down a starting spot the longer the season has rolled on.

- The fact that they were happy enough to lose Traore mid-season without a commitment to purchase from Barca.

- The fact that for this season he had been usurped by a loanee; a player who they’ve chosen to keep on despite being older than Traore.

- The fact that Nevez is simply a much better football player and although ageing; so is Moutinho. Also, despite currently being injured, Neto is too.

...What makes you say he is?

The fact he now starts for FC Barcelona, and the rest of them are still stuck as Wolverhampton players.

So you genuinely think Traore was Wolves best player?

Nah, but there's certainly an argument that he was at least among the players they have that were valued the highest by top clubs. Adama has been wanted by Liverpool, Spurs and Barcelona in the past, from the clubs we know.

He wasn't their most important player, but their most most talented? Sure. Depends how you define best. Was he on and off the bench because he was no longer committed to being a Wolves player for a long while?

Either way he's now stepped up a level whereas the rest are still stuck there. And he's MOTM on his debut for arguably the biggest club in world football.

It's 100% arguable. I'm not saying they are, but there are numerous valid arguments you can make. Their overall revenue is higher than anyone else in the world. They had the best team that has ever been assembled, the best player history has ever seen as well.

It's probably Madrid overall. But you can argue any of United, Madrid or Barcelona fairly.
That’s a deeply mediocre football team atm that will do well to nick 4th in La Liga

Indeed. Not.

Different argument then, innit......

You think they'd let Nevez out on loan in similar circumstances?

Hahaha... Hell no.

He was falling in and an out of favour with Nuno the year before too.

Perhaps his contract dwindling played a part, but he's struggled to cement a niche for himself over the last 2 seasons.

Either way he's now stepped up a level whereas the rest are still stuck there.

The important part of that "step" is proving yourself worthy; not the move.

And he's MOTM on his debut for arguably the biggest club in world football.

Current Barca is not the same beast.

....KWP was MOTM on his Tottenham debut. If we're honest; I reckon we'd both prefer to be trading off of more concrete criteria than that.

How Wolves valued/utilised him and how good he actually is are two different things. I think there are players far more important to Wolves than Adama, but I also think Adama was their best footballer ability wise and will show that at Barcelona.

Maybe so, we'll see how it continues to go for him. But hey, those who want to have faith in Paratici's judgement should probably hope I'm right about Adama, because he was desperate to sign the guy from the second he got here.

Burnley feels ripe for a result against a fucked up United tonight. Come on Dyche.

Also just realized Burnley signed Weghorst, that almost seems a little too on the nose.

United have been shit for years. They're still easily one of the biggest clubs in world football. You don't stop being a tremendously big football club overnight. Players are practically begging to take a wage cut so they can play there.
That’s fine and true but you’re arguing that Traore is actually good.

Barcelona’s aura in world football is not germane to the question of whether Traore was Wolves best or most valuable player which he absolutely was not.

Being able to dribble fast... I'd want more.... Seemingly, their last 2 managers did too.

Putting stock in what he might (!!!) do at Barca isn't the most compelling argument.

I'm putting more hope in their being a strong synergy between Conte & Fab...... Seemingly Conte was a little more ambivalent which I suspect is why we didn't push as hard as we might in terms of an actual bid in Jan.
