Competition The Race for 4th

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If we win all 3 of our games (big if) I think Woolwich will drop against at least one of Newcastle or Everton, they are both playing a lot better than Leeds who are currently shit.

Burnley might end up being the decider they will obviously fight.
I think it’s over mate. Be a surprise if we win all 3 & Everton will have nothing to play for when they play Woolwich.
Woolwich only need to draw against us really.
Hope I am wrong & get re-quoted.

If we beat Woolwich and that’s a big if I think it’s 50-50 or even less for them beating Newcastle away, they are a good team on great form. I think if we win our last 3 games it’s at least 50-50 we get 4th.

I want to see us in the CL again but when we end in the EL we should't act dismissively. The EL is the best chance to win a trophy. That winning a domestic cup is easier is a myth. Even in the Carabao Cup there is a very high chance that we meet at least one of Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester City. So let's go for it and stop acting like we are better than this. We are not. When we win a tournament like the EL then we can wrinkle our noses again.
I dont disagree but we'll sack it off. If we start well in the league all the emphasis will be on that. If we're on the fringes of 4th, all the effort will be on that. Its how its worked pretty much every year we've been in the Europa and unless we dramatically improve the squad by 7 or 8 quality players i dont see it changing.

Never expected them to drop points at home to leeds , it’s the Newcastle and Everton games which will be their tough ones.

Get the job done Thursday night and they will drop points in one of those two games.

Over the last 12 years (since it changed from UEFA to Europa) an English team has won this competiton 3 times, over that time the Premier League has been arguably the strongest league in the world.

If it was so easy or easier than a domestic trophy why aren't more English teams winning it?

No other country sees it as an inconvenience like it is seen over here.

Because the Premier League is so strong, teams act like it is failure to play in the EL. We certainly did last year. You must take it serious and accept that you play the Second Tier European League and then there is a good chance winning it. Why does Frankfurt always perform so well in the EL? Because of their quality? No, they are taking the tournament serious, just like Sevilla or Emery.

It’s all about the next game. We just have to beat them & then hope they crumble under the pressure.
If they scrape 4th it really papers over the cracks. I’d always rather play teams with nothing to play for like them where as we have Burnley. But I know sometimes teams with nothing to play for can be dangerous.

The fear (having just lost to the dippers last weekend) is that City knock the last of the wind out of Newcastle's sails today and they subsequently end up hitting the beach.......

The double whammy of the Everton game is that if we beat Burnley as required it might well be the result which keeps the Toffes up; in which case again they can afford to phone it in against the Arse.

Both the Everton win & Burnley/Leeds losses this weekend were dreadful results for us. :(

It’s easy to say it’s important but the players have to believe it…. A last 32 tie away in a half empty Braga isn’t exactly comparable to high intensity, PL games

I think it's probably done now, but Conte has to make sure the lads keep going to the end to be ready in case Woolwich do slip up.

As it stands though we're guaranteed to finish no lower than fifth. We're guaranteed to finish above Man Utd. Would I have taken this last summer during the infamous manager hunt? Yes, yes I would have.
