Plus it’s bollocks players chose champions league clubs over those who don’t have it. If you pay them the money and play them then they’ll come.

.....Depends who you are, how you are perceived and just how much extra you're prepared to pay.

On the flipside, we've had players past and present say that they signed because we were in the CL (most recently Bissouma choosing us instead of the Scum) and some say that they won't cos we weren't.

CL clearly holds a certain appeal.

Players say a lot of things. Just depends on if you believe them.

Same goes for managers, CEOs and the media.

What's the end point here? ......Believe no-one?

(Wouldn't be the unwisest thing in the world, but we have to stop professing to know things and wave opinions about on a daily basis.)

......Or we can work with what sounds logical.

Tell me; do you think Bissouma chose us over the scum despite the fact that on average they pay more than we do? ....Because cos he loves Spurs?

"It was always my ambition to play for a CL team.... My family are so proud".
... The guy had tears n his eyes when he said it FFS.

We aren’t going to win EL or Carabao Cup. This is ENIC Spurs, it’s not what we do. Whether or not some random with an anonymous user name on a chat forum (me) complains about it or not.

That's a pretty reductive argument for someone whom (*) posts a tonne of ism on an internet forum on a daily basis.

(*not unlike myself)

.......Am I to assume you're not bothered about last night too? I assume otherwise. Your outlook seems to suggest - understandably - that you care about more than just a few token CL cup ties each season.

I think City pass Woolwich, but I don't know that it happens soon enough for the wheels to completely fall off. Probably shade second, but they'll stumble to the wire.

I think we'll catch United, whether it's for 3rd or 4th I don't know. Hopefully the Saudis drop off after their cup final defeat.

Who knows.

Woolwich can beat City at their place. Whether they do or not is another question. Past caring. They bounced back sadly from their rocky spell whereas last season they imploded. Sickening.

We ain't passing United unless they run out of steam..

We are too weak willed when it really matters.

What is your point about the reductive argument?

Was stating what is pretty clearly a fact.

Not bothered about last night? More bothered about the time wasted watching it.

When you add up all the 'not bothered' and 'don't care about X' stuff it doesn't exactly mesh with one being a prolific poster on a Spurs forum......

If you are genuinely more bothered about time "wasted" watching games; then there's a very simple two-fold solution staring you in the face.

(I reckon - like myself - you do care though..... Thus "reductive".)

We're consistently inconsistent. I wouldn't be surprised if we scraped 4th but equally I'm not going to be surprised if we capitulate and throw it away.

All true. Still don't give a fuck about EL.

I'd take a 6th place finish if we actually tried to win the EL. If we're in it next season surely even the board would want it to be a priority since winning it gets you in the CL.

Everyone wins, we can get a trophy and they get their CL money.

Would you be content with 6th or 7th next season if we got knocked out in the semi?

Top 4 is a done deal. There is no way newcastle or Liverpool will overtake us which is why the cup exit hurts even more. I could not hardly sleep following our cup exit. This is what football does to you. I was buzzing after the Chelsea match that showed we are better than a club that spent like 500 million in 6 months. Getting Top 4 is still a good season as we can attract Top talent in the summer. I think when we get maddison it will signal real intent. We can compete with united and city next season.
