The squad is stronger than it was last season and there is little difference between the top 5 sides bar City. Poch was backed in the summer, we signed Sanchez, Aurier and Llorente. He has one of the best squads in the league and we are not performing to our previous standards. Adding more players to the mix doesn’t alter that. The signings we will make will unlikely be starters, we unable to sign players on a level of a Kane, Ali, Eriksen and Son so this clamour for more is bizzare. If the team isn’t performing then it is competely irrelevant who we bring in because nothing will change.
Some "fans" only know this.....

New signings, not enough happens > more signings demanded, still not enough happens for these fans > manager's head demanded - manager sacked > new manager comes in > signings demanded > new signings don't hit the ground running . more new signings demanded > call for manager's head if we don't win league. And so it goes on. Throw in a bit of moaning about the club's owners and being tight with money, slow to act or similar, and you have the Cheatsheet 101 of the Modern Footie Fan (TM).

You can only polish turds so much, you'd need proper quality if you wanna aim much higher.

But you can roll it in glitter.....

Instead of spending a total of 60m on Sissoko, Nkoudou and Janssen why not spend it on one player like Sane or B. Silva?

Buy quality, not quantity.
And if that one player got injured you'd probably be moaning about not having enough squad depth. Plus, you give examples of players like Sane, but he was an up and coming player when Liverpool bought him. You said you wanted world class, which suggests a player at the top of their game and ready to walk straight in. That wasn't Sane in 2016.

It's very easy to point to players who have gone on to improve in other sides and say, with the benefit of hindsight, that we should have signed them. But the fact is we did sign players of much talked about potential. So when you say world class you are clearly demanding a player who is already at the top me his game and that my fiend is going to cost ££££.

I think top 4 will go right to the wire, will make for a exciting end to the season, should keep sky happy being as the league will be wrapped up by march!
I agree we need signings, not necessarily to get top 4, but to have any chance again next season we need to start looking to buy now, we always seem to do well around December time, hopefully if we integrated some new faces in Jan, we should be good from the off next season.

Looks like it's going to be the toughest it's been in years for us. Drawing today (As well as many other poorly dropped points) has left us potentially 5 points off fourth place if Liverpool beat rock bottom Swansea tomorrow.

Next three gameweeks:

TOTTENHAM
Man Utd (H)
Liverpool (A)
Woolwich (H)

LIVERPOOL
Huddersfield (A)
Tottenham (H)
Southampton (A)

CHELSEA
Bournemouth (H)
Watford (A)
West Brom (H)

MAN UTD
Tottenham (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)

Surely means a less intense run in though, so could be a blessing.
Fuck it, Im going to put a tenner on 3 Spurs wins. Fuck em all

Yet half dozen clubs accross were willing to spend upward of 40m for that kid at Schalke.
Are you happy to pay £40m for a kid with potential rather than ready made world class?

I remind you that you said you wanted world class, not potential. We are being linked with this Malcolm kid this window for, guess what, £40m! So if he joins does that satisfy your call for world class?

Yes, spending 40m on a potential world class talent would be more than satisfying.

Mindblown said he wanted world class.

You're going to need to pay that sort of rate right now to bring in a truly world class player who can walk straight into the said and immediately be a much better upgrade than what we have.

if he didn't actually mean world class, which seems to be the case since his replies since seem very confused and keep moving the goalposts, then he shouldn't use the term.

My bad I wasn't articulate enough, I meant highly talented youngsters with potential to become world class.

And if he ultimately flops? Spend another £40m and say the previous £40m was wasted on crap? Or would you simple accept it was a gamble that didn't pay off?
Some talents are clearly gambles like the N's while some are just destined for greatness like Sessegnon or that yankee kid at BVB. The later usually cost 3/4 times as former but are def worth the gamble becuase you absolutely know what you are getting.

Well, yes and no. They all said the same about Dele Alli at Mk Dons. Then he came in and performed wonderfully for us and was touted as a potential galactico. Two years later and some people have been calling for him to be dropped and even sold.

I suppose all I am getting at is I think some fans can be very fickle. No player with potential guarantees success and when one doesn't work out these fans just demand more signings as if it instantly solves the problem, when in reality it is the same risk repeated.

Still plenty of time, but it goes without saying that February is important.

Terrible result and performance today, but if we beat United, Woolwich and at worst draw with Pool we are back in it.
