I know what you mean with him not taking the match seriously, but our fringe players should have enough in them in order to put Brighton away. Of course they won't be as strong as our 1st XI, but what's the point in having these players if they aren't capable of getting a result at the likes of Brighton?

Correct but playing most of them together with the knowledge that playing means they won't be starting Saturday hardly motivates. 2nd place is definitely gone
3rd maybe but right now just hanging onto 4th is what im worried about.

The lack of confidence in here is frightening.

Weve lost 1 game (against the champions) since December.

That happened the moment they came back from 2 down i just knew we'd lose against city and drop points against Brighton. The unthinkable cannot happen. It has before. Hence the lack of confidence. Hopefully the players dont read this forum

Win Monday and top 4 is all but confirmed. Liverpool’s result today means we win all 4 of our games and we finish 3rd.

Mathematically Chelsea can still finish above Liverpool, but the latter does have a +18 goal difference. They play each other next weekend which’ll be interesting.

Likewise personally if I’m watching any English team other than Spurs in Europe then I’ll be supporting the other team. That probably reflects badly on me!
Personally I want the English teams to do well up to about now so the English co efficients are high and we maintain 4 teams in CL. also it is a distraction. Liverpool dropped 2 points today and I doubt that would have happened if they had not played a CL match in midweek. Having said that my opinion now changes and no way do I want Liverpool or Woolwich to win a trophy. So support them to stay in until Semi final then I want them to lose. Supporting Madrid to win them both, please.

The top four nations get 4 places now so the English coefficient doesn't much matter unless it managed to fall behind Spain, Germany, Italy and France at the same time.

Chelsea v Bin Dippers is now a big game for the Dippers ....

Love the way the media focus on 'closing the gap to Spurs' .... with our last four fixtures in all probability yielding a minimum 10 points ... it's the Dippers under far more pressure ...

Come Sunday 13th the table could well look like this ...... come on Chrissy H

City - 99 +100
Utd - 83 +42
Spurs - 75 +40
Dippers - 72 +42
Chelsea - 72 +32

As I understand it and I do not know the exact details, when it is decided which group a team is in that the winners of the league are in group 1. Group 2 is made up of those with the best co efficients and we get so many points from National history or basically points gained by English teams + individual points from our record over the last few seasons + extra for teams like Liverpool who have actually won the cup. I do not know exactly how it works and expect others will describe it better but last season we end up in group 3 and the sooner we get into group 2 and get an easier draw the better. It maybe that English teams are so far ahead with their points that it does not matter but there is also the question of being in Europe affecting PL performance.

Chelsea having been knicking these last 4 results and can almost control their own destiny with the recent fall of Pool. Can we just please win so I can sit back and watch the potential chaos with the Pool/Chelsea game.

Yes we have had a couple of poor results but we have not suddenly become a bad side, remember that long unbeaten run from December until the man city match at Wembley?

3rd place is now ours to throw away. If we can not beat Watford, Newcastle and Leicester at home then we don't deserve champions league football, BUT we will get the points we need, this is not the spurs of 15, 20 years ago.
