The race for second place.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

we don't need to win both. One is a must win and one is a must at least draw.
assuming Chelsea beat both Huddersfield at home and Newcastle away.
we can afford one slip up as long as that slip up is a draw at home against two teams on the beach. if we can't do that, then serious questions need to be asked.

Agree, but lets start by winning this one against the barcodes first.
It'd heap an epic amount of pressure on the dippers and Chelscum, and I like the chances of at least one of them fucking up under pressure.

Would say the pressure is on us and not Chelsea, cheslea have been out of the top four race for weeks now... that was until we let them back in it.
Glad it's bank holiday tomorrow so I don't have to listen to chelski and Woolwich goons...

If Chelsea win their next game, then it goes down to the last day to find out who missed out. Even though I expect us to do what we need to do, it should never have reached this point. We've been unprofessional, again, and made it hard for ourselves.

Time to stand up and be counted. Quietly confident that we'll deliver top 4 because it's actually something to give the players a kick up the arse.

That, and I don't see either of the final games being anywhere near as frustrating as trying to crack the art of non-football that West Brom have perfected.

The chav players all want to make the Cup Final eleven so can't switch off, apart from the Harry and the Golden Boot Crusade, our lot have been in World Cup or beach mode for weeks.

And so it comes down to a match with the Geordies again. Win this, and we can be confident going into the game against Leicester. Losing is not an option at this stage. We have to assume Chavs and lollerpool will win their remaining games. Should never have come to this.

At least we know the scum can't overtake us.

If we fuck this up, it will probably be my greatest disappointment in many long years of support. Because our expectations are now so high. And because if we do fuck up, it won't be down to a freak lasagne-gate disaster or some other one-match meltdown, but a collective failure of willpower over several games. We have an undeniably great team - the best I have personally watched, by a long chalk - but they will have badly let themselves and us down.

By the same token, because of the pressure we're now under, if we DO make it - and especially if we get 6 points & fuck the racists and dippers up their arses - I will be EXTREMELY proud of this squad and their manager.

This is all incredibly frustrating. Besides the first 20 in the FA semi, since chelsea, this is some of the worst football I've seen from Spurs in a long time. Just fucking do your job and get a win.

Anyone not anxious must have nerves of steel.

Im not a death rider of either the club or any player, but this predicament has me fucking worried.

Apart from the obvious fall from grace on the ladder ( if it happens ), what will missing the 4 do to morale, future signings, existing contracts, Levy's financial planning, etc etc etc.

Love this club so much, but to even contemplate missing CL footy ( considering where we were only a few weeks back ), would be a huge dent in our long term plans.

I love some of the positive posts here, ... usually I fall in that category, but right now, having followed this club all my life, I am concerned. We have the players to win both these games, but as we saw against WBA, sometimes thats not enough. Mentally, the lads need to aim up. And that starts at the top with Poch. I really rate this manager, but some of his comments worry me.

Anyway, good luck...... hope this post gets torn to shreds when we batter Newcastle and Leicester.

Third place.
You have to aim for third place. Your CL finals will be these two games. Do not look at Chelsea: it might make you dizzy, it's like looking underneath a climb. Good luck

This thread is titled the race for second place right, not third/4th? I'm confused...
