Not sacked, however, not sure where else to put. There's a few Stevenage people on here.

Stevenage Football Club confirms that Steve Evans has left his role as First Team manager to join Rotherham United, effective immediately…

Following an official approach and compensation being met, Evans departs after just over two years at the Club, taking Stevenage from League Two to the top-half of League One.

The 61-year-old led Stevenage to promotion to League One last season and has overseen a play-off chasing campaign this season, with the side currently sitting in 9th place.

Chairman Phil Wallace said, “It’s not what we wanted, but compensation clauses are in place for a reason and these things happen in football.

“The approach was unexpected but handled in the right manner by both clubs and we told Steve that, after all he’d done for our Club, we would not stand in his way if the compensation terms were met and he wanted to leave.

Always found Evans an interesting character - usually succeeds but fucks everyone off within a 1,000 miles radius. Also surprised he's gone back to yo-yo club Rotherham, given their relegation to the same league. Evans really did get Stevenage punching above their weight - until a month or so ago, they were very much up there for play-off possibilities.

Caveat: not a Stevenage person but occasionally used to have all-day sessions in The Chequers (old town version) as the place was halfway ish between London, and where my friend lives, Huntingdon. The difference between old and new town Stevenage is rather profound, and I once made the mistake of turning right as I came out of the station exit. Never again.
