Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think it's fair to say that the theory of "Brentford made massive bids on both Johnson and Gray, therefore they will be at the center of Frank's plans" has not come to fruition.

Frank's job was to make a football team out of what the Brentford recruitment operation gave him, same job he's been hired for here, and Johnson and Gray aren't starters at present.

Bit early to make that claim

Solanke, Johnson, Maddison are decent squad players, and would be great in low level domestic cup comps. But not for starting in any top flight game, in a squad who is seriously looking to dine at the top table imo.
Benny, since his injury doesn't look the same player and our beloved Sonny has come to the end of being effective at this level. These 2 along with Bissouma need to move on and if we got any sniff of an interest for any of the other 3 I'd hope we would pursue it.

Finishing 17th in The EPL, heads must role! Ange's did, we know Levy's won't but the players mentioned are senior pros and not one of them stepped up when needed IN THE LEAGUE and sacking off the league for the CL might be forgivable if finishing 10th or 12th, but we flirted we relegation!!
MADDs is our best attack minded player. Without him we are dog awful.

I will try to explain this failure just taking Sissoko as an example...

May 2016 - Mane comes to Spurs training ground ,very much open to move & play once again with Poch. We offer him 80k he asks for 130k a week. We drag it on hoping he will sign for Poch

June 2016 - Liverpool swoop in him and give him a salary of 110k a week and pay transfer fee 30m + 6m addon

31 Aug 2016 - After fuking around for the entire window, to appease Poch, Levy signs Sissoko on last day of window for.... 30m fee giving him 80k a week

In essence, we lose out a player who our manager desperately wanted to a rival who was finishing under us....because we were trying to squeeze out 1 to 2m from his wages...

Fast forward 5 years, Sissoko walks away on free transfer winning nothing....and giving away that pen in CL final to very same Mane.

On otherhand, Mane wins EFL cup, FA cup, PL , CL , Club world cup...and then gets sold to Bayern for 27m....

Failure of these transfers all have 1 underlying thing : We fuck around trying to penny pinch and let good players go to our rivals and then settling for 2nd or 3rd choice...who mope around for 4 years and go for less winning nothing....
Fucking hell. Complaining about a transfer 9 years ago and most of the facts are made up.

Go and pick some flowers.

Honestly in the current climate, particularly in Britain, it's probably fair to think there will be some hesitation about signing an Israeli.

Not a topic anyone would want to broach in this thread, but that's precisely why clubs would be skittish about bringing him into the fold. It's just not a discourse anyone wants to touch.

One hopes Leeds might be an exception, but we'll see, him being hurt absolutely does not help.

Leeds owned by SF49ers now yeh?

............Are their lot a bit Trumpy?

Sounds like Palhinha might be on his way... whilst not an expansive player, I think he would be another useful player to have, especially away from home in a tricky fixture. Under Frank I think we'll have one of the better 'goals against' records in the league.

Leeds are the most racist club going and he will be an idol for them

I responded to a comment which put out a 'factual' list (which is not made up) of player transfers of 10 years.... This is a transfer thread forum.

If you have problem with this, I cant help it. :mourthumb:
Ok well let’s start with May.

What is this based on:

May 2016 - Mane comes to Spurs training ground ,very much open to move & play once again with Poch. We offer him 80k he asks for 130k a week. We drag it on hoping he will sign for Poch

Is it based on a better source than his agent?

« Sadio had five offers in the summer and financially all of them were good. We wanted the right team, with the right coach at the right moment to arrive at the next level. That is the reason Sadio went to Anfield. »

OFCOURSE... you will believe the agent who put this quote in 2017. The very next summer Mane signed a better deal to 150k a week

I am sure, the agent will always say the truth....

Go read up on David Webb - scout who was at Southampton with Poch, and followed him to Spurs and he talks about how close the move was...

No thanks. If you have a quote and a source, I’ll take it. Otherwise stop making stuff up.

Also pretty sure the whole "sissoko on deadline day" thing was proven to be a fictional dramatisation. Sissoko himself said the whole everton thing as weird because he was at Hotspur Way the whole day, and the whole process had been going on for weeks.

As much as people want to see the negatives, we got to a CL final with Moussa, and he was key to the winning Moura goal against Ajax. The idea that Mane was the difference between us or Liverpool winning all those trophies is complete nonsense. We had 2 finals, 3 semi finals, and 2nd place under Poch - so the chances were there. He lacked the conviction, publicly, to get the team over the line - something Ange had, despite his other shortcomings.

Theres a new thing called Google- in just 5 words, it has magical powers to give you 100s of articles from different sources saying the same thing that Mane was close to signing to spurs...

I dont want to waste the forum time on helping you search....oh , just dont believe in what agents says 👍

Our Crown Prince of Facts and Logic will surely note that the second quote does not in any way refute the first.

"Sadio Mane was definitely another one at the time, but Liverpool pipped us to the post. Pochettino at the time obviously had that relationship with him from Southampton. That was definitely a factor, Tottenham were pretty close, but Liverpool came in."

Insightful.

Matt Law with a morning mood check to lower expectations.

Fuck Palinha anyway, whether we sell Bissouma or not. If they think Palinha is the missing profile in our midfield then they are more hopeless than they already look.

Even our bullshit rumours are depressing

Would be a good signing.

I doubt you have ever seen him play.

Err, what - we came to finals but didnt win...it was luck, it wasnt the manager , it wasnt the players - whose fault is it then for last 20 yrs. If you say Levy, then what did he do wrong. I am just trying t o talk about the process that landed in us unable to sell players for 10 yrs.

What are we discussing here in this thread ? Why bother wanting the next big thing or wanting best players - because they are the players who make that difference

You can chose to be emotional - thats fine. I am not disrespecting the player but just commenting on the process in landing the players

I don’t rate Donnarumma. He can be excellent and unbeatable but he’s very inconsistent and has periods of bad form. Rarely see Allison have two bad games on the bounce
Agreed. This season he's been immense, granted, and with his size and ball playing ability, on his day, there aren't many better. But over the last 3/4 years before this one, he's been either sublime or a complete horror show.
If he were to go to United, I feel like he'd get swollen up there. Also, why would you go from PSG to United, that seems insane.
