Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At Forest he often played upfront in a front 2. They built their attack around him and always had him coming centrally.

Under Ange, we always played him wide. His goalscoring ability is elite, the numbers speak for themselves! But he's bang average as a winger, in fact below average. His 1v1 dribbling is poor and he has very poor numbers for successful take ons. He also has a poor crossing ability where going low and hard is his only real option. Basically he is very very easy to nulify on the wing for an opposing fullback. They want to see Brennan out wide as he's little threat. And don't forget that we played with inverted full backs for the last 2 seasons so Brennan has always had to stay wide and hold the width for 90% of games which never suited his style.

However, if Frank plans to use him more centrally, either running behind Solanke or else in an inverted wing role (think Mbeumo at Brentford who rarely hogged the touchline) then we could have a really really effective player on our hands who can score even more goals as won't be stuck on the touchline trying to play as a winger during the game where he is totally ineffective.

So I disagree that he's gotten worse then he was at Forest. I think he's always been a very poor touchline winger and from now on he should be used much more centrally. I think Frank will get the best out of him. He's one player I'm not concerned about at all. I think he's the most underrated player on this forum.
If we had a really good passing 8 behind him I think we might get away with playing him in the 10 in a similar role to how Dele was deployed for us, especially if we were flanking him with 2 more creative progressive dribblers like Savinho and Kudus, however we definitely would need a real upgrade at 8 to be able to carry him in that way IMO, I think he has been played wide for us because his ability to contribute in the final third is unquestionable but his inability to effectively contribute to the build-up phase of play sees him shunted out there as damage limitation, we have the incredibly hard-working Porro on that side who has been exposed himself trying to cover for Brennan's deficiencies in that department from time to time.

I think 2 up front can only ever be a situational tactic in this day and age, being outnumbered in midfield against highly system-oriented sides often just leaves your attack stranded and unable to contribute aside from on the counter.

Not much being said on here about Guehi telling Levy to allegedly jog on in January. So indulge me as I have a crack at it .
We put in a 70 million bid for a Palace player who clearly thinks we are beneath him. If we want to sugarcoat it he decided to hang on hoping a well run club might bid for him this summer . Call me a cynic but the idea that Levy didn’t know Guehi would tell us to jog on when he bid is very hard to believe .
This kind of behaviour only adds to my personal belief that every fibre of Levy’s being is disingenuous and his actions get ever more embarrassing.

You do need to go talk to someone about that JT obsession, pal. That's getting old & boring.

Funny how you have no issue with JT and his cunty little cabal relentlessly pestering and trolling other posters though isn't it.............?

Almost as if you've no problem with it so long as they share the same opinions/agenda as you do.

Lol!

Forum: 'I like Savinho', 'Where would he play?', 'Exciting but I'll wait and see if it happens', 'We still need a 10'.

John: 'Look how rich we are', 'Look how little we spend', 'Look how horrible the fanbase is', 'PAY ATTENTION TO ME!'

Anything to say on the Savinho links, Joan? Where do you think we'll slot him in?

John doesn’t do ‘football talk or tactics’ he’s obsessed with revenue and spreadsheets

Yeah I think Frank will be very clever in how he uses Brennan. I don't think he'll just play him wide of a 3 every week.

If we were to move to a 3-5-2 in any games then Brennan is perfect for that second striker role if you have Kudus in the midfield 3. I think if we allow Porro to hold the width on the right in our usual 4-3-3 shape than that'll allow Brennan to remain more contral (Salah with Trent was a great example of this. If you ever watch the heat maps, Salah would always be near the box. Never out wide).

At least I'm hoping thats how Frank will do it. If you want your wde forward to hold the width and effect the game from wide then don't start Brennan- Odebert and Kudus are far better wingers at beating men and creating chances.

The original Athletic article has been updated to say we have "approached" city but this piece is the most relevant update
"City say they do not want to sell Savinho, communicated that in response to the enquiry and regard this matter as closed. Their perspective is that it would take much more than £50million to consider his exit.
But other sources with knowledge of the situation regard Spurs’ pursuit as ongoing."
unfortunately the pessimists amongst us probably right not to get too excited about this one
