Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Off topic, but I found this conversation with Liverpool’s saber metrics guy to be absolutely insightful. If I had to guess, our guys are nowhere near as good.

Unless they really meant Gravenberch to be a 6 all along, they haven’t really hit on signings like Salah and VVD for a while.

Was definitely the Salah and Virgil show to win the league, Slobo and Darwin didn’t really move the needle.

Lot of pressure on Wirtz and Ekitike to prove Salah and VVD weren’t flukes

Grwalish to Everton.. ffs....
We are desperate for a number 10, we could of had him on loan. So it was no risk, and he goes to Everton... levy out.....

He's barely kicked a football in 2 years, hes in no condition to play as a starting number 10 across the premier and champions league.

He's clearly been ruled out of the English squad, so is unlikely playing for his spot in the world cup.

There is a chance he rekindles his form, but history teaches us that players very rarely have 'come backs'.

Clearly Everton learnt nothing from Rooney, James and Dele.

Hasn't even made the bench for Rangers yet.
I had (briefly) forgotten how annoying Russell Martins voice is and how much of a total blagger of a coach he is.
Heard his last 2 post match interviews after 2 draws from 2. Mans a fraud and will be gone in months IMO.
Wonder how that'll affect Moore?

Moore has not received international clearance so not eligible to play for Rangers

He turned 18 today and its a lot easier to get international clearance for over 18's so more likely to play SPL game at weekend - for u18 its likely his parents would need to move to Glasgow

Savinho is a left winger. Even at City his numbers were far better on left side. Buying him & playing him on right with the options we have would be pointless

Sorry to piss on your fire.

Positional analysis
  • Right wing: He primarily operated on the right flank during the 2024-2025 season at Manchester City. He is praised for his trickery and burst of pace on this side. He completed the most successful dribbles in La Liga during the 2023-2024 season while playing for Girona, where he mostly played on the left wing.
  • Left wing: He is also capable on the left wing, using his left foot to cut inside and shoot or go outside to cross.
Additional details
  • Savinho prefers playing on the right wing and cutting inside, taking inspiration from Riyad Mahrez.
  • He is described as having the ability to play in central attacking roles as well, showcasing his versatility.
  • He joined Manchester City after a successful loan spell at Girona where he scored 9 goals and provided 10 assists in 37 games.

I agree. Savinho on the left, where he mostly played in Spain, with a license to attack his FB rather than being shackled in Pep's ball possession system, massively improves our attacking potential.

Odobert has shown promise in pre-season, but he would become a squad rotation player, backing up Savinho & Kudus.

If we go & get a genuine ACM like Akliouche or Paz as well, our attacking threat would be transformed.

At this juncture, I’m not sure why anyone (and I’ve seen lots of people suggest it, not just you) considers Akliouche a “genuine” ACM? He may well turn into one, but majority of his minutes have been at inverted right forward or ARM.

I’m a big fan of Akliouche, think we could have saved ourselves the price of Kudus and Savinho and just bought him, but if we buy Savinho then I think buying another similar profile - dribbly, creat-y, lefty who likes to cut in type - when none of them have really proven they are good as ACM’s (Savinho can definitely play orthodox LW), would seem to be some what over egging that profile.

If we sign Savinho, I would much rather we found a player who can definitely play as an 8 first and an ACM second.

Paz could be that guy. Eze maybe. Or perhaps BEK might be that guy - he strikes me as being a very Maddison type of player. I’ve not seen enough of him in normal circumstances to have a solid opinion, but I quite like this link, he seems like the sort of signing Palace might make and we then wish we had.

We deffo need one but I can't see it happening with the total number of players we have. Its too many. Frank said smallish squad.
I suspect we will trim the squad as far as possible but wouldn't be at all surprised if we resort to what Chelsea did last season and just leave a good size swathe of players unregistered pending transfer or loan. Questionable at this stage whether registering Maddison even in January is worthwhile and so that frees up a spot, Kulu isn't back til April-ish so again you have to ask yourself serious questions about whether he is registered at all, will take well over a month to get him rehabbed anyway. Pending Savinho in I suspect we will get more serious about selling Solomon once he is back from his injury.
