What was the game we did that.Someone on here mentioned it beforehand and one of the few games I watched they advanced to the penalty area and then stopped and passed sideways then back. Totally clueless

:ange-blow:
Well, but first we'd have our inverted fullback make an underlapping run to the end line so he'd be 70 yards out of position when the easily telegraphed backwards pass was intercepted.

Tactics innit :ange-hands-head:

I'm not remotely anti the signing. I think he's really fun and I would enjoy watching him play the same way I have enjoyed watching Kudus play ... I am overwhelmingly pro us signing footballers who do footballer stuff and make us all actually enjoy watching games. Savinho fits in to that category.
I think the other thing to consider here is that those against the signing appear to think that he's plateaud and can't improve on his game and end product stats. He's what? 21 years old?

At this point in time, with some already decent return, a desire to get game time and improve (he hasn't come here for an easy payday, he's have that at City), I think there's a very high chance he'll get better as he matures.

Damn the cost, he's a player that gets bums off seats, can and has terrorised fullbacks, and all whilst he's still pretty much a kid.

I want to see as much talent crammed into this club as possible, then sit back and watch them entertain us.

If Savinho continues to mature into his talent, we could be looking back at £55-70M being a steal

Lol.

Williams would absolutely translate his skills to the premier league (as he did international football) because he's fucking athletic. He could fit in to any league in the world and be very good in fact, or at any level. But yeah .. goals and assists, which by the way if we were judging players on just this, there are legions of shite we could sign ahead of an actual good footballer than Savio because g+a only is always very misleading.

Not that long ago Williams won a Euros tearing it up as a key player for Spain. But .. goals and assists against Las Palmas & co!

Not denying Nico’s quality or athleticism, he’s a top tier winger and proved it at the Euros. But if we’re talking La Liga 23/24, where we can compare both players in comparable leagues, Savinho wasn’t just “good,” he was literally the standout creator in the league, and that’s not just goals and assists.

• 1st in league in progressive carries (181)
• 1st in league in successful take-ons (104)
• 1st in league for goal-creating actions (25)
• 1st in the league for expected assists (9.9)

And he did that for Girona, and not behind a possession heavy Athletic or National team.

G/A isn’t everything , agreed. However Savinho’s underlying creation metrics blow most wingers (including Nico) out of the water, is younger than Nico, and £20-£30 mil cheaper. That’s why the “Las Palmas” jab doesn’t really land for me, he was outstanding and rinsing everyone.

This Savinho has scored 1 goal in 13 appearances for Brazil and 18 goals in 141 club appearances, 9 of which were in one season for Girona

So far pre season has shown that our attackers are having trouble scoring goals, we have been reliant on set pieces and our defenders chipping in with goals

That is why we must look for attacking players who are a real threat in front of goal.

Bloody hell pressures on bloked flying in to close...how's Daniel going to get out of this.

Savinho suits La Liga down to the ground. Its a less physical league where more creative, technical wingers can thrive. Williams is a killer at international level and would be a killer at premier league level because he's powerful, fast and direct. I doubt for example that Savio could ever do what Williams did to lots of top international sides, for example.

Savinho is really good. If we had the chance to sign Williams instead of him though I'd do it in an instant. The guy would be awesome in England.
