Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Transfermarkt says he’s worth €50M. I wouldn’t be paying more than €60M.

Why are you only fussed by the transfer fee?

Hes on about €6m per year atm,

We probably offer him close to €9m per year over 5 years.

Fee: €60m
Wages: €45m
Total: €105m over 5 years,

That’s €21m per year total transfer cost,

If we got him for €50m, it would be €19m per year for 5 years… not exactly a game changing difference

this is it, he can not flop, otherwise its 100m down the drain.

you can pay the extra money for someone like rodrygo 85m, 250k a week, which is an extra 37m over 4 years, then worst ways get 60m back for him in 4 years when hes 28.... the eze deal doesnt look too appealing now does it....the club has to be sure he bangs if we get him, if he was a sure thing i think the scum would of triggered his release clause.
I'm curious

1. Are you an accountant?
2. Are you an Spurs accountant?
3. Are you Daniel Levy?

lets say we sign him for 60, hes going to be on 180k a week say for 4 years, youre talking nearly 100m to have eze playing for you for four years, is he that good? hell be 31 in 4 years time ands will start declining fairly quick as he relies on being physically sharp.

You sign players like Eze to push you over the edge.

It’s a big time commitment on a player you likely won’t get any resale value from but imo he’s well worth it.

As we saw last year, you can’t build a squad from only younger players with resale value on lower wages. Eze makes your younger players better and as a result increases the value of them as assets.

If it’s not a big difference why hasn’t baldy just paid up?

100m for a player that is not a guarantee to pop is a huge gamble. hence why no one triggered his release clause...

When u say not guaranteed what exactly do you mean?
We've seen eze in the pl for years now, hes a known quantity. Every player carrys an element of risk, even if we bought mo salah he could struggle at spurs!
Are you suggesting we go cheaper or younger just to try negate the risk of failure?

If so I think you will find we've done that for years and its barely got us anywhere and if anything its hamstrung us summer after summer.

Sounds like to me, unsurprisingly, that both the Eze and Savinho deals are purely about Enic breaking tradition and offering above the market value by 5-10 million£?

For me looking at the current squad it seems 2 signings like this would make us serious contenders for a CL placing and domestic cup success. Therefore surely that bit extra would be recouped if this was the case?

I have no understanding of Daniel Levy's take on this!

Still cheap for a goalscoring striker ..... and if the 20% sell on gives us another €4m, the total fee for his sale is only €12m or circa £10m.

Sold to be one of AZ Alkmaar's main forwards competing in their UEFA' Europa League campaign - AZ are ranked as 39th in UEFA's 5 year rating, which is a reasonable rating (Spurs are 27th by comparison)

They would and they would also be cornerstones for this new spurs team under Frank's tenure. There's a ton of unlocked development potential in this squad and eze and savinho would add to that.
Then next summer if we add to that again as our current crop develop you could find were in for a pl title challenge. A few more pieces would be needed but I think we'd have most parts required to challenge.

not sure eze is as good as a lot of people think he is. hes also at a risky age where we are going to be paying the max for him with no return other than football....there are players where that is worth it, but they have to be world class, is eze world class?

we are literally going all in on him...its risky business, he might come good and if we get him hopefully he does, but theres a decent chance he doesnt and than how long do we wait to get in this position again? weve taken a 100m gamble before with gio and ndombele and look how that turned out.

he looked good earlier, there was a few sloppy moments, but he looks good because hes in his physical prime and hes sharp and strong across the ground, that sharpness may only last 2 years, may last 4, i think once you take that away from him he struggles big time.

hes apparently a scum fan and they didnt even trigger his release clause, that must baffle a lot of people as everyone raves about him? yet his favoured destination turned their nose up at it and went for madueke instead....

He’s pretty close to a guaranteed pop. But the age and resale value is probably more the reason nobody bit on the RC.

The scum committed €70m plus €10m per year for 5 years on Gyokeres who will have no resale value.

Chances are they were choosing between that and Eze. Not many clubs sign 2 of those in a window. It nearly broke United doing that.

His face at the end was one that said he's saying goodbye...
He's usually such a bright, smiley character... They'd just come away with a hard earned point at Stamford Bridge, he shoulda been happier than he looked!

He's coming to Spurs and it's just dawned on him!!
Either that or it's fallen through, and it's just dawned on him he's gotta listen to the 'Holmesdale Massive Ultra Curva Sud Fanatics for yet another season!!!

That's quite a skewed, 1 dimensional take on proceedings....

This whole situation actually DOES point to us signing Eze this time....
I genuinely think it's about to happen...
Let him get home first, so nothing tonight, but in the next few days Eze WILL be a Spurs player.

But I think your seeing of the situation is blinded by your view on Levy/ENIC!!

Prepare to be re-quoted I imagine.
(Or I will be.... One of us is getting ridiculed by the end of next week, THAT'S for sure!)
Fair play to you, and i genuinely hope it's me...because that will mean we have signed eze....
I don't believe it will be me, and there is no track record that makes me believe eze will be a tottenham player.
But I hope your right and I'm wrong and I will happily apologise to you and acknowledge how wrong I was.......its the hope that kills you / us 😂😂

This is not Jack (The Lad) Grealish we are talking about. Eze is a God Fearing athlete we are talking about, dedicated to his family and profession. He is likely, injuries permitting, to play top level football well into his early 30's and within those 5-6 years think of the return he will give!

Eze and Savinho are the missing pieces to what could be and see THFC taken to the next level. That's how important I feel these 2 singings are at this moment in time, and if Levy can't see this then we are looking at the same debacle we saw in 2019 when the foundations were there for our club to push on after coming so close after years of being nearly men.

The 100m you speak of would be nothing in terms of the potential return of that one investment. And I have to add, why are you so concerned about money that isn't yours?
