What financial issues do Villa actually have?
None with PSR. Loads with FFP in Europe, the selling of the Ladies team to a different entity was not recognised by Uefa, Chelsea did this when they were not in Europe. They got away with a fine last year but are at the risk of a ban if they fail again. There wages are no where near 70% of revenue.

The funny thing is they are still struggling even though they sold two players to Saudi in recent years. Maybe taking 100% of Rashford's wages was a stupid idea when you were over the 80% to revenue on wages.

Of course my bad

Levy you bald cunt, fuk off from our dickhed, I'm so angry man I'm gonna abuse my fellow fans on forums and act like a complete man child just so I don't come across as a 'Levy lover'

Sad Baby GIF

This fanbase is full of fucking gimps lmao
I love your Aura

Inspiring

In European competition they are apparently miles over the wage limit verse turnover.

Yep. Last year they were at 96% for UEFA's FCR. Max for this upcoming season is 70% (was 80% in 2024-25).
Will just be fines/squad limitation for Europe as penalty though.

They won't have issue for Premier League though, will just sell themselves something else if required (last year sold women's team to themselves) or do a high price "PSR swap" with a like-minded rival.

Wouldn't complain if we try for Paqueta.

But I feel we aren't getting any of those linked in the media at all. It will be a total out-of-nowhere signing and done in 24 hours. And then possibly a last minute loan.

And even so, this is setting a high expectation of Levy still. He's so incompetent in signings recenty it's just unreal.
Yeah great Paqueta the mentors mentor, can teach Bergvall the nuances of the occasional acca. Sent off, own goal, goal combo. Big money!

Their wages to turnover is like 90%. Without CL football they have to sell players to make up the shortfall. They have sold Ramsey already and they probably need one more big sale if they want to make any moves in the market.

Their wage to revenue ratio is horrendous and the reason they are always walking the PSR tightrope. I actually checked their wages there and they have 14 players on over 100k a week. Subs like Bailey and Malen are on 140k a week! Madness.

Don't think are are in any financial bother though. Its just that the club is running at a totally unsustainable level and if their owners went broke then Villa would be at risk of going under.

97% of wages to turnover

It's mad tbh

But Rogers is "only" on £75k a week.
They have 14 players earning more than him. At least 3 earning double his wages*

Selling him to ease their wage ratio doesn't achieve much unless he himself is demanding more money that they can't give him.

*some of these figures may need updating

Strange transfer - Tanganga leaving Millwall to go to Sheffield United for £7-£10m
A player we couldn't sell and ended up giving away.

Chelsea would have got £30m for him. Somehow.

Doesnt matter.

They either cut wagebill by selling high earners (as u say Rogers is on low wages)

Or

Raise revenue through selling a player to lower the turnover to wages ratio. Kerching.

Unless they decided that Fermin Lopez is the 10 they want instead.

Simons is not someone that sits behind Palmer all season and they seem to be more excited by Estevao than expected off the RW so Palmer isn’t moving back out wide to accommodate Simons.

Career wise, I really don’t understand why he’d pick Chelsea over us. Palmer’s their number 10 for the next 6/7 years and they want Garnacho for the LW position. Whereas if he comes here, he’s our first choice number 10 and would potentially be our main man and posterboy if he’s as good as he’s made out to be.

Money might come into it, but I thought Chelsea were paying way less now under Boehly than they did under Abramovich.

And if it’s about winning things, I don’t think Chelsea are that much closer than us to being title contenders, that Micky Mouse cup win doesn’t change that. They’ve fallen way behind where they were under Abramovich, and Boehly ain’t too bothered about winning things, as long as they’re in the Champions League he’s happy. They’re basically Woolwich in Wenger’s latter years.

It was pretty stupid to release him on a free. We agreed a deal with Millwall that was a low fee with a big sell-on but Tanganga wanted to hold talks with a couple of Serie A teams first. Instead of activating our option for an extra year, we released him instead and then he joined Millwall on a free anyway. Probably only would have been 3 or 4m but such a waste.
