For fuck’s sake get Baldwin down the training ground….

The thing is, why haven’t Chelsea made an offer if they are able to? Makes no sense.

They’ve kept the player hanging all summer clearly because they can’t sign him yet and are prioritising other targets.

Even now we’ve made an offer. They haven’t. They could have made a bid any time over the last weeks and months.

So I understand why we are being aggressive now in trying to beat them to it.

I guess we’ve been clear with the player that we won’t wait and he will need to accept and sign quickly.

I suppose the small optimism I have is, why haven’t Chelsea bid yet? Can only think it’s because they can’t, maybe the price is too high
And this leaves out the Garnacho situation too.

If Abramovich were still in charge they would absolutely 100% buy the more expensive player and fuck over Tottenham.

Boehly is different, and it sounds like Maresca is after a winger anyway.

Revisionism and false infomation.
We fell over first hurdle, drawing with dogshit Leicester from total Romero brainfart.

We were shit throughout the last season.
4 points from 4 games.
Draw. 2 losses and 1 win. Crumbled against Woolwich and Newcastle.
And from first 7 games we got 10 points.

But sure, "started well".
You do realise we are only 2 games into the season right? We were fresh off beaten Everton 4-0 this time last year.

The issues started once we had European games and our squad couldn't handle it. Why is this so hard to get? Frank will do a better job than Ange, this is not a comparison. I'm just saying this good start means nothing when its jsut one game a week. Our poor squad depth will be totally exposed once Europe starts. That is my point. No agenda. No revisionism...

Waiting for us to set the price so they can swoop in and get everything done in 24hrs, allowing them all that time saved working on other targets.

Obviously.

Possible but apparently RBL are very clear what the price is for Simons and their players and they don’t really negotiate. They set the price and you either match it or fuck off.

Chelsea will have known the price all summer. I don’t see there much benefit in waiting for us to agree a deal and then matching it, usually yes but not in this case.

To me it seems far more likely they are having issues creating the necessary space or are financially restricted. I think they’ve been trying to keep Simon’s hanging and in the meantime have prioritised Garnacho as they feel they need a winger more.

I find the Johnson bashing really bizarre. I first started going to the Lane in the late 80s and was a regular by the time the 90s rolled around. I implore you all to watch any game during the three seasons Gary Lineker was at the club. He did nothing (and I mean nothing) except score goals, a fair few of which were inside the six yard box... Now I get it. Different time, different position but if you don't believe me watch the 86 World Cup group game against Poland. I don't recall him having more than half a dozen touches the entire game and three of them ended up in the back of the net. Now I see where the Johnson bashing comes from. To the naked eye he looks like a winger with no pace, no trickery and who occasionally gets back to help his full back. Fine, but his awareness and ability to arrive on the scene and score is his super power (Fat Frank made a career out of that for the Chavs) and so long as he continues to do this, I am okay with the other stuff being sub par. I will probably get pelters now.

I had this same thought process with Woolwich and Eze. Why didn't they just pay the 68m release clause in June? Why did they wait until after the season started to sign him for 68m!

This one is easy. Because Woolwich and us, we were waiting for the release clause to expire. Parish wasn’t entertaining negations before then. He just pointed to the release clause. Once it expired, buying clubs felt they would be able to negotiate a more favourable deal. With say less money upfront. No coincidence we started negotiating with them literally a day after the clause expired. Obviously Woolwich were always there lurking too

You cannot use the words "Chelsea" and "financially restricted" in the same sentence, we were also told the same thing about the gooners and that they would have to sell to buy Eze......

For the record, I'd love to be wrong abut this, but it screams off a "Players rejects spurs" again headline being created when the inevitable happens and he goes to Chelsea.
