We are offensively poor on the left with a right footed BJ ahead of a right footed Spence.

Play Udogie at LB with Odobert ahead of him and we're miles better - as we saw in the last 10-15 mins yesterday.

Yesterday so many things went wrong.... Richy was isolated and also could not trap a bag of cement. We did not get any quick ball to Kudus. No creative passing or urgency in CM. etc.

Bergvall isn’t overrated. He’s young so makes mistakes but he makes shit happen and isn’t 6,8,or a 10 so you can’t tactic him out of a game.

He would have had the backbone to just take the ball against that press and beat someone. Palinha just can’t and Bentancur hides.
 
We ain't buying a top striker, because there arent any, aside from the handful that are beyond our reach.

You can do as Newcastle have done with their new striker, but be under no illusion that's a gamble on their part. Young and untried.

Our current 2 aren't leading us to a dominant league position, so whilst it's easy to see the limitations in Johnson, I think the challenge for Frank is how to utilise his obvious goal threat. I don't think we can countenance his sale until we find players who score the goals he provides.

I hope we are actively looking for 2 or 3 more, unrealistic as that is at this stage, and it's building blocks. No other way.

But a number of the players we covet now, PL-wise would have been sneered at, as average purchases had we got them when they first arrived in the PL, so our model of buying potential isn't wrong, but needs refinement or better selection.

We were going nowhere last season, but the cruise liner can't turn round in an instant.

Yesterday was a good, if painful reminder of the need.

I got banned from SC because I had an argument with someone, (well loads of people) that rated Winks and I said he was utter shit. People were acting like we should build the team round him and he was the next Modric.

I was like wtf are you on about? He is utter shit and needed to be binned from the line up. Never understood why Poch rated him so much. Built that diamond formation around him 🤣

I also got pelters when I said McTominay was the bigger talent with bigger potential when he was breaking through at United. I just thought he’d go on to be the better player. Now look at him at Napoli. Where’s Winks now…..

Signing Palhinha was a mistake. But eh, Bayern owed us cash so...

Not shifting Bentancur was another.

I'd much rather play Archie & Luke. They'd screw up, but I can dig that...they're kids who are still learning. And it's obvious they'd work much harder and show more passion.

Long goal kicks but both CBs in the box. Meant when in inevitably came back at us, we were deep, Bournemouth were already advanced and it was back to square one.

Yep. They essentially went man to man on all our midfield and even our defenders. We got completely done tactically. Our guys had no time on the ball and shat the bed basically

That’s exactly how I feel.

Palinha is ok with me if he’s a loan player you use in certain games but he’s not, he’s a penny pinching exercise so we don’t need to invest in replacing Biss and Bentancur but somehow both will still be here after the deadline because top end CMs are some of the most expensive transfers out there.

I hope Frank clocks it and our MF 2 comes from Archie, Lucas and Sarr as a priority.
 
Our season hinges on getting a good left winger. I was initially underwhelmed by Lookman but he’d be a massive improvement over Johnson surely.

At this stage not sure who else we good get.

I’d take most left wingers in Europe over Johnson.

I'd happily give Napoli a package of Bentancur, Deki and Richy + cash for McTominay.

Similar with Bournemouth...would defo give them Biss + Brennan + Dom + good money for Scott, Semenyo & Evanilson.
