Maybe Frank can come in and speak to Romero, big him up by offering him the captaincy and tell him he will be our leader to Premier League glory......whilst trying to keep a straight face!
Superstar? I mean, it was a nice moment, but did he do anything this season worthy of being considered a superstar?
Look I agree with your post about him being a decent creative inside LW (something he's mostly only shown elsewhere), but my post was simply about how ridiculous the tweet text was: "we have a superstar on our hands". If they had said a "young star in the making" or something like that it would have been credible, but this mischaracterization is overly-fawning and off-putting. That is all.No he didn't but he's got a massive future ahead of him. We need established quality around so we don't have to pin our hopes on 19 year old to be world class right now.
Like the other youngsters, good coaching, tactical development and a system that suits them and they will grow and shine.
I don't know how hard Romero is pushing for a Spurs exit and I agree we don't want anyone at the club who truly doesn't want to be there but it will be Franks job to determine that when he meets him. Should Frank/Enic feel they can offer him what he wants in terms of career success, then maybe Frank could persuade him (with a pep talk and the captaincy) to remain for another season and then beyond depending on how successful that season becomes? We don't want to make Romero captain- he just announced interest in leaving. And he'll walk on a free in 2 years if Levy doesn't give a favorable price to RM or AM...
Top 3 in Spain regularly. How much of a step up is this, really? He's not gonna win Champions League or the league with them...
It makes me so angry that Levy thinks you can compete in this version of the PL without at least two prime forwards on 200k a week plus.Something to keep in mind:
We used to have Kane and Son, 2 legit world class forwards.
We sold Kane and kept Son long enough that he’s not WC anymore.
We are about to sell our best player and closest player to world class status (Romero) and also likely sell Son.
We will sign mid range punts to replace them both.
Highest ticket prices in Europe
He doesnt think that at all because he doesn't want to compete, he wants to exist. We will always have the highest prices as long as we continue to pay them.It makes me so angry that Levy thinks you can compete in this version of the PL without at least two prime forwards on 200k a week plus.
I don’t believe that. I think that like all people who are a bit long in the tooth he’s become convinced he can recreate his earlier success of the start of the Poch era, have a load of young players that will become superstars and control the wage bill with incremental contract increases. The PL has changed and he’s not willing to change with it.He doesnt think that at all because he doesn't want to compete, he wants to exist. Spot on. We did that well from Pleat, through Arnesen and Commoli for several years. Defoe, Dawson, Lennon, Keane, Bale, Modric, Walker. We were actually pretty good at it as no one else was doing it. Now we're way behind even the likes of Brighton, Palace and Bournemouth, let alone clubs that spend big. Levy is stuck in a 2005 to 2009 timewarp. He's just too stale like anyone thats been doing the same job for 25 years would be.I don’t believe that. We could probably get Romero to stay if we showed him we were seriously trying to win things by buying high quality players to improve the team.
He was pissed off last season when we brought in three teenagers and an average striker. He said out loud what a shit window it was.
If we landed Eze, Semenya and a quality DM as well as a couple of high quality kids that would at least show that we were having a crack at building a strong team.
I have a hard time believing that Spurs can't find a straight buyer for Bissouma. He is that good (when in form)...

Only 1 year left so not sure what the obligation is about?
I'd like him to move on though
