i have no illusions we are going for youth for low wages. Below is probably realistically the best we can do and Wharton is perhaps a push.

ST - Delap

Tel - see if the new manager will play his type of role first (second striker)

Son - if we get half a decent offer

Worth remembering that we started the season with a couple of key players injured but as late as early November when we beat Villa 4-1 we were 3 points off 3rd place in PL.

Since then we've gone from having 5 players out injured to having more like 10 or even 12 players out injured recently, which in turn means we've been running the remaining fit players into the ground as we've had no options other than to play them every mid week and weekend.

The good news is that we brought in 2 permanent transfers in January (Danso and Kinsky) who filled holes in the squad and look good, have proved Austin is a decent 3rd GK to add depth plus have Tel on a 'try before you buy loan' whilst both summer recruits Gray and Bergvall now look to be two of our most reliable players, Odobert shows real potential now he's fit and Solanke is a real lynch pin of the side with his pressing as well as goal involvements. And the rehabilitation of Spence has gone like a dream.

So we go into this years transfer window a lot lot stronger than 12 months ago (4 recruits last summer plus January 2 players plus Spence and Austin - so arguably 8 players or a third of the squad) with more players and more depth to the squad than 12 months ago. Plus we have a lot of youth in that 18 - 21 group who we might want to use next season or season after.

Of course there are still issues to be dealt with - whether its the Bissouma/Bentancur dilemma, Richarlison or whoever else is any posters particular gripe, not to mention constant rumours we might lose Romero and/or Porro. And I doubt we will find all the players we would ideally like to.

But don't forget we now have the spine of a decent level squad - far fewer problems than ManU for example, and that really is something to be thankful for.

Dont you guys think we will go for a smaller squad next season?
I doubt we will have european football so I expect 6 to 8 players leave / Sold.

Davies
Reguillon
Gil
Romero
Richarlison
Bissouma
Solomon
Foster

Maybe not all of them but then someone else instead...

Im afraid if we are not prepared to pay higher wages for a few players we will finish somewhere in midtable next season.
No matter who the Manager will be...

Our strategy seems to be to buy the best players, from the worse teams.

This lot cost 250m. Basically a bunch of 'losers'.

Richarlison - Everton, battling relegation
Madission - Leicester, Relegated
Johnson - Forest, battling relegation
Odobert - Burnley, Relegated
Solanke - Bournmouth, 12th

Spence and Grey came from Championship teams. Bergvall from some pub team (actually, he's not old enough for the pub).

It's deluded that Spurs fans think this can be a trophy winning squad within 1 or 2 seasons.

Both Harry Maguire and Andrew Robertson were bought from a Hull team that just got relegated.
Leicester bought Mahrez from a Ligue 2 team, Le Havre, and N'Golo Kanté from a mediocre Ligue 1 club, Caen. And they basically won them the EPL title.
Dele came from MK Dons, and Luka Modrić from what you would call a pub team, Dinamo Zagreb.
And the list can go on and on...

We definitely should be looking at Hato from Ajax, can play left-back as well as CB. Huge talent, he turned 19 last week and has already played 100 matches for Ajax.

Not sure at this point in his career, but he seems to have the potential to play for Bayern, City or Barcelona at some point in his career. That's why we at least need to try this summer!
He will know his trajectory. His agent will already know which clubs are after him.

If we are a stepping stone club, then he could do a lot worse, yet he can do a lot better.

Let's see but I think he will look past Spurs, considering how much we have regressed.

Only one way to find out. He would be an excellent addition, but I'm not saying here that it would be easy to sign him. But should we try? 100%!

Spurs will want to get back into euroope for the following season, even if not in europe next season as europe is a money spinner.

And to get back into europe we cannot slim the squad very far otherwise a few injuries, and we fail to get back into europe.

Our issue in summer if we are not in europe will be to recruit some players who want to play in europe as well as earn decent wages (and despite what some posters might erroneously believe, Spurs are still one of the top paying clubs in europe)

So we might (or might not) trim say 3 or 4 players from the squad, but not more and likely less

Yeah doubt Dragusin wlill go but agree with the rest. You cant have a season like this and not change it up. The positive is Whiteman, Forster, Requilon, Davies, Werner and Tel are all out of contract come June so its really only selling/loaning 6 players if you add Gil and Solomon. Something wrong though when you need clearouts like this every singe bloody summer.

a lot on TFC thought that Bissouma was the answer to a wet dream when he arrived.

Conte said he didn't understand how to play and Ange has made his feelings clear whilst anyone watching him says he doesn't concentrate and his attitude stinks - although he's perfectly able to give an 8/10 performance on odd occasions. Maybe just delighted to be on high wages at Spurs without needing to work - but who knows. Either way needs moving on. But I think this is a player issue rather than recruitment fault

Bentancur was good for 18 months but seems to have not been able to get to back to that form. The issue is Cash's tackle which should have led to a life ban (but wasn't punished) and the ACL which means Bentancur is not mobile enough. Its just bad luck from a Spurs pov, not a recruitment issue

Richarlison was signed as we couldn't get Raphina who only wanted Barcelona. I suspect Richarlison was one of the best strikers with PL experience available, and whilst I thought we massively overpaid he didn't seem to be a disastrous signing, just not one I wanted. But his injury history since signing which started when he played in his last game for Brazil (December 2022) when clearly injured in the warm up is ALL on the player and Brazil manager/medical staff. Other than a 2 month spell when he scored in almost every game in 22/23 he's never available.

Davies has been at Spurs for a decade and played over 300 PL games plus one of spurs highest ever appearance maker in europe. So not sure he's a mistake.

So not sure 'Something wrong though when you need clearouts like this every singe bloody summer.' is correct. Most clubs want to get in a few players each window

I'm not saying Davies was a mistake. Just that the time has come for him to go. It was obvious we overpaid for Richarlison and Johnson. Solomon, Werner utterly pointless and everyone knew it.

My point was though we cleared out 10 or so last season and now need to do the same again this season. So 20 or so players in 2 years and this is hardly a new thing. Its rank bad squad building and poor scouting. The constant positive spin is very grating when we're 14th and we're in our 6th season of piss poor football (3 months of Conte aside). Somethings gone wrong somewhere.

I would be more than happy with those four in and the whole lot out. We will only 42-45 games next season. Wharton is a gem

I hate doing this but I am going to anyway...
Our recruitment is nothing short of shocking

Newcastle
63m Isak
45m Gordon

Spurs
55-65m Solanke
47.5m Johnson
