Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Seems to be a lack of quality DMs available in the market this summer. Palhinha? Luiz? Both have their risks. Not really seeing or hearing any credible links to any more.

Plus we seem to be stockpiling CBs.

Does this mean we aren’t in the market for a DM as we are going to be playing 3/5 at the back?

How confident would everyone be if this is how we went into the new season, with our midfield options still being Bent, Biss, Sarr, Berg and maybe Gray?

3 at the back would still leave us vulnerable to not having a proper DM.

The 2 best 3CB teams of the EPL era have been Poch's Spurs & Conte's Chavs..... Both relied upon beasts like Dembele & Kante to have the impact of 2 men in order to not get over-run in MF (and in our case we played Wanyama alongside Moussa too!).

I’ve had my say on Rios. Good player but he’s NOT a number 6. He is a good box to box player but we don’t need him as we do a DMF or a LB or a winger or even a backup striker. I’d be happy to have him but only if we got the others first

Mitch McConnell. Former Republican senate leader and an absolute spineless racist snake. (Though that’s insulting to snakes). Look up the word hypocrite in the dictionary and you’ll see his name. He’s the reason the US Supreme Court is stacked with republican judges that overturned Rowe v Wade and have allowed for presidential immunity.
He’s retiring in 2026 which is something.

????

....2026?

If we do let romero go we need somebody established, surely. An organiser, somebody who's played in big games and won before.
I'd like to hope we would re-visit tapsoba as we wanted him before we got vdv. Leverkusem have sold a few players though so may be reluctant to let another go.

It's actually amazing that we are linked with players at the £60m level when we always look to buy at the £30m level !!
Even more so than usual, teams are over pricing players. Instead of a reasonable range of values it feels like every attacking player is valued by their team at sixty million. There's a bigger than usual gap between value and price. If you look at it from a buyer's perspective, there are too many teams shopping in the same shop (Premier League experienced players) when they probably would be better served focusing on the international market until prices come down. The shop opens early for Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, and Man United and until they fill their baskets it's all just a waste of time. We aren't getting Eze or Mbeumo? Who didn't know that going in?

yeah because a squad without Solanke and no other striker is stronger than a squad with Solanke, a full England international.

Come on now, be genuine here
I agree that Solanke is better than no striker, but I don't think he's a great signing. But again, it's our squad strength compared to our rivals that matter, not whether or not we have marginally improved or not the last two years.

We wouldn't be good enough for top 8 with those midfielders.

Take out the top 4, our squad has improved more than any of our competitors for that 5th spot since we last finished 5th.

Pretty confident that’s beyond debate.

If we sack of the cups and go out the CL early, there’s really zero reason to expect any less than 5th
