Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Those are some strong words from POK. Makes me like the guy a bit.

And the knowledge that you can't run from your problems will now be part of our PR. Fingers crossed this has the intended effect. God knows we need some solutions in the med-bay.

LOL at you hedging your bets as always 😆

Shame you never did that before May 21st then, we could have had a month of your continued pearls of wisdom on this forum not to mention the name change...

Only works if they continue to be your best players after you say they can't leave.
In most instances, they don't. And then you sell them for less, or lose them for nothing.

And the fantasy is that they behave after you deny their desire to leave.
And this stuff isn't just hypothetical in Romero's case.

World class on his day (and Bilbao was one of them), but consistent focus and commitment on his Spurs career has not always been there.

I would love for him to communicate to Frank and Levy that he wants a bumper new contract and the captain's armband and to make this his team. But that's not what reports are saying, is it?

Sometimes a big transfer fee is the best thing a player can give you.

Don’t want to just blindly believe O’Keefe but if this is true Brett should’ve been sacked on the spot. It’s one thing to take a vacation during the season but while in the midst of an injury crisis is insane.

I get the impression with our medical department, light weight coaching team, the invisible Scott Munn that last season was a total amateur hour behind the scenes. We must have modelled ourselves on West Ham or something. Feels like a bit of professionalism is coming back.

If you asked me which of the entire squad is most likely to misbehave if denied a move, it would be Romero.

It was going to take some mentality for us to get over the line in the final.

The way Romero marched the team past the United team over to the Spurs fans pre-KO showed balls. He didn't care that they lost the toss and we were told by the referee to go the other way. People might not appreciate them small things but I think that was mentally huge. We were there to win and nobody was going to get in our way.
You know they are dog shit and we beat them like a rented mule for nigh on a decade now. He was great but other players were more responsible for that tournament win than him I can call at least three possibly four.

It's a funny story, but not sure what's wrong with a guy heading on holiday if the club gave him the okay initially for time off / to book it. These staff shouldn't be held to the standards as highly paid players/head coaches. He might even be an egregious dickhead and useless at his job, but I dunno, it seems a non-issue.

100% I'm sure there isn't anything a phone call could achieve while he was away. Now if the guy and his staff were just terrible at their jobs, that's another story.

I guess going away in the midst of an injury crisis if you're in charge of that dept isn't the best of looks.

Don't think it's that deep anyway, probably deserved the sack based off our injuries last season alone.

I've told you before, I was told stuff I could not believe. It was a joke from top to bottom. When the inside story of that season gets written people will be stunned. We binned Geoff Scott for underperformance but we literally filled all our coaching and medical roles with complete frauds.

Scott Munn was a disaster. And Ange Postecoglou alone was a massive error. He has a very special but limited skill set, briefly there was talk about tearing everything up leaving him as head coach but putting in a totally established network beneath him from sports science to coaching and tactical. It was binned because they didn't think he'd accept ego wise the dumping of Jedinak Raimondo and Munn. some of the people hired were Eileen Druery levels of fraudulent.

I think it's similar to when a nurse has a holiday planned and then covid strikes and it's all hands on deck.

Except it's worse, since he's specifically responsible for them not getting covid (among other things).

And now everyone is getting covid, Brett... They're all getting covid. The thing you're supposed to protect them from, Brett, they are all getting it. It's like you're injecting them with covid, Brett. Brett? Where's Brett? "Skiing, boss". WTAF? BRETTTTTTT!!!!
