Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Teams that could genuinely have challenged for a title ...

1981-84 ... No disrespect to Paul Miller but we were just a better centre back and a Jimmy Case type midfielder away.

Around 1988-90. Waddle and Gazza are there, Erik the Viking arrived, Lineker is coming soon. If we sign Mark Wright from Southampton and Paul Ince from West Ham so we get them and Liverpool/United don't we win the league in the early 1990s.

2010(ish) Redknapp with a very good team and the young lads on the way up, Kane etc. The notorious Saha/Nelson window. We go and get Adebayor in the January instead of waiting to the Summer and who knows?

2016 Poch team ... was probably good enough to win it with just a bit more rub of the green. That was the best Spurs team I have seen.
...and during Pochettino's time Spurs went 3 TW without a single signing....

Having a left-footed CB in a 2-man CB-formation is not that much of a need as in 3-man CB formation. Liverpool have managed without one for many seasons now. Woolwich, Real M., Barca & Bayern M. also manage very well without one.
Lenglet, btw, is playing regularly at Atleti and Rodon is doing quite well at Leeds....

neither are nowhere near good enough for a side aspiring to be top 4, nowhere near.

Just one of several occasions where we were left scratching our heads why the club didn't build on something that had a lot of potential. We should have built on the teams we had in 1987, 1996, 2006, 2011, the Poch team. Every time we broke it up, sold our best players and took steps backwards instead.

Poch's team wasn't broken up and sold.

In fact people complained that it got stale and they should have been sold sooner.

At Spurs we need a left and right centreback as they have to cover our fullbacks who are up in the opponents’ penalty box.

Daniel is taking my club down the drain
I can see Modric and Bale headin for Spain
Oh, I can see Harry Kane wavin goodbye
God it looks like Harry
Must be pound signs in Levy’s eyes

A little trip down transfer Memory Lane ready for the summer

If it makes you feel better, Levy cant sell our superstar players to bigger clubs anymore, because we don't have any superstar players

We need a Romero replacement as it's clear as day he wants out, and with Dragusin's ACL it is even more critical we bolster CB.

We do need another leader, there is a good young core developing but leadership is amiss.

Presuming Dragusin comes back healthy AND that we change system, Danso, Vuskovic, Davies, VdV, Dragusin is pretty good. If we went to a back 3 we might want to get Hincapie too.

For me I feel the players are not quite as injured as reported- unfortunately I think there is some mix of downing tools and protecting their own health keeping them out at present.

Hincapie can play LB and LCB in a 4 or LCB and LWB in a 5.

He’s a fucking unicorn that we should try to sign regardless

I certainly rate him. While obviously we do make some large transfers from time to time, I offer this view to help try an persuade people that we've got a very good squad already. I hope folks don't get bent out of shape if we don't get him, or aren't in for him.
