Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think Levy has fallen into a bit of a trap over the years.

He’s looked at the big money we’ve spent and the shit returns we’ve had, then looked at our “best” signings and come to the conclusion that young, cheaper players, or opportunistic punts are the way forward.

Put Tanguy, Sanchez, GLC, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Soldado up against Bale, Modric, Dele, Walker, Rose, Rafa VdV and you can see how he’d come to that conclusion.

Time has moved on though and we are surrounded by teams that can fish in those waters. And above us are teams who aren’t scared to make multi million mistakes. With our huge revenue, we shouldn’t be afraid either.
There's definitely something to this.

Levy is by his nature risk averse. And the few times that he has been pushed to splash the cash on "big names" it has often come back to haunt him. So he is always going to be hesitant to do it.

He/We have instead have much greater luck acting as an escape route for good-great players that have been stuck on the bench or on the outs with bigger clubs. Like how we got Van der Vaart.

We could do with something like that again.

Name another one like this…

He's put in some top performances for Betis. The fans see him as one of their best players, lo celso was the same mind but still promising signs.

I think it’s a bit late for them to make CL and keep him but they are bang in form and he’s a massive part of that.

Great age and physically perfect for the PL.

I don’t know if he will work here and people seem to have issues with his mobility. I don’t see those issues yet but it’s hard to tell until you see a player in the PL having to turn their way out of pressure at PL intensity.

What a load of nonsense. .What we could do with is owners who are less risk averse and accept that Ndombele type transfers are gonna happen, start paying wages that match our vast wealth and status as one of the top 10 richest clubs on the planet, and stop hiding behind past failures as an excuse for not competing.

Nah, mate...you wanna see us acting like a cowardly bunch cheapskates then you deserve another 25 years with one league cup.

Chris Rigg is one name the press keep on repeating...which, of course, does not necessarily mean Spurs are genuinely after him.
However, if Sunderland are promoted they won't let him leave (unless for a crazy fee) nor would he leave them as he's already an established starter at 17...

if we were a serious outfit with a serious owner we'd go lay our dick on the table this summer after a disgraceful season paying disgraceful ticket prices, bring in Tapsoba, Osimnen or Sesko, Kubo or Mbeumo and a top DM and Milos Kerkez

but instead we'll try and scrabble for a nice free double deal of David and Gomes, and the already arranged low fee for JCardoso and call it a day. If Romero is sold maybe some 19 year old replacement for 30 mill

sick of it Robbie

Tbh if we got all of the bottom paragraph that would be a decent window by our standards. I don't think we'll get both Gomes and David, especially the latter

decent bench warmers? is Gomes better than Kulu or Maddison, considering he's not managed more than 2 league goals since being in France and his best return so far is 0 goals and 8 assists seems unlikely.

David , better bench option than Richarlison because he's not always injured...for now anyway.

the only upgrade would be JC, since Bentancur is extra useless as a six, and Bissouma has checked out

based on the chairman’s statement it will be low wages or Free’s

Gomes
Cordosa
Dibling
Delap (at best)
Random LCB
Random LB

I think this will be it.
