They either show they're better than him or they get moved on. Why would you pass on a player who was better, just to give an academy player a route unchallenged?

Don't really know anything about him, but that video wasn't exactly the most convincing. The game was played at a snails pace and he had acres of room around him. Is there anything out there to show how he would function under pressure?
If the players coming in are much better that is fair enough. Is Tel better than Moore? Is kinsky better than the lad on loan at orient?

We should never pass up the opportunity to bring in young talent though. They will compete amongst themselves to get their shot, which is exactly how you separate the Wheat from the chaff. If bringing this youngster in elevates the games of the likes of Donley or Devine then it's a good purchase, and he can be moved on himself if he doesn't make the grade.
It's no secret that I like our policy of bringing in young talent, there's nothing quite like seeing a youngster break through to excel. It's always better if it's "one of our own" of course, but I really don't care where that youngster comes from if I'm honest. If they're better than what we already have, that's better for the club, and that's all I really care about.

I agree. However, if we do get him, I'd be happy with 20+ goal involvements from a winger. As long as he's contributing to goals scored, I don't think it really matters whether it's him scoring them or not.
My biggest concern is that his return this season gone is a massive jump up from any previous seasons he's had. This may be down to him maturing and moving into his prime, or it may be just a Purple patch season that he'll not get close to again. Well only know this after the fact though.
All 3 (Devine, Donley and Abbott) have already made their Spurs first team debuts.

To be fair, Solanke scored 16 and assisted 8 in an awful season where we had no continuity in playing staff and he was, in large parts of the season, starved of service. That's only 4 less than he managed for Bournemouth in the previous season. He's hardly been a failure in that regard.
Football is littered with players who've had mediocre starts to their first season at a new club, then risen to the challenge after that.

Tough to tell. He massively over performed this year but Son did most of his best seasons. At 25 it could just be that he’s gone up a level and this is who he is now.
IMO it will be about where the goals come from when he’s playing against low blocks much more often. We will need a passer that can play the direct cross field balls that VVD and MacAllister play to Salah so he can still play 1v1 with no settled defense

Well if he wants to go to United and they want him he will go there I would imagine . He just refuses to sign for anyone else. If he comes to us I presume he is happy to do so , we can’t force him into it
Still got 25 goals and assists combined - not too many others in PL who did that, so he's clearly worth a lot more than 8m

At the end of the day, after all of the sturm und drang, the Kane departure was dealt with pretty successfully. Let's hope we can do the same with Sonny, even if that means him staying in an increasingly emeritus role. I'm dubious he'd choose that, but we shall see.
All true, I was responding to a post that he was only worth 8m - and IMO he's worth far more than that whether we sell or keep him perhaps for less game time than previous seasons..
