Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

First task for Frank is to make sure Romero stays. If we break up his partnership with Van der Ven we want our bumps felt.
It’s not about whether the stays at the club, it’s about whether he buys in. He played lollygag defense for about 20 matches this season then finally locked in when it came time to get a trophy. We can’t afford that across the CL/PL grind next year.

Sausage obviously too young to remember Duncan, Lineker, Allen and the like.

Stupid comment to suggest that any striker is a "tap in merchant".

In a season where Solanke had no support, little continuity of players alongside him in a system where he was flogged to death yet still produce 16 goals and 7 assists is a very good return.

Frank will get him in the top five goalscorer's next season.
I was actually going to use Lineker as an example, but couldn't be arsed because the guy is a bell end!

I don't think you're too wide of the mark either, with Solanke. All strikers thrive off service, if we can get that sorted then Solanke should be able to "tap" his way to a 15-20 goal season in the league.

I don't see Tel as a pure winger or as a lone striker, meaning he always looked like a bit of a square peg in a round hole with the previous manager. But there's a reason why there was a tug of war of him between big clubs only 4 months ago.

If he had set the world on fire in his loan spell, and would therefore have his pick of clubs this summer.. Would he be professing his love for us in interviews and as desperate to stay? Probably not. But I'm not precious about that.. He never really had that momentum to get up to speed in terms of match fitness or sharpness.. Pre Season under his belt and lets see what he can do. Hopefully, its been given the green light by Frank and he thinks he can work with him rather than a signing that he's just been given.

Agree with all your saying except the bold bit. Banks love loaning money to clubs given the steady revenue streams. However banks require clubs to take insurance on players in case of injury that affects value.

Ever wondered why new players being signed fail medicals like Nusa did with Brentford? It’s not the club medical team who fail them, it’s the insurance company. They deem the existing condition or conditions to be too great a risk to insure and the banks and/or club don’t want to take the risk of the signing uninsured.

Banks like lending money to clubs with steady income streams - they much prefer property to players due to risk of injury as you said and require insurance etc

But the key thing is the club income streams as players are a very poor form of security ..... and banks demand security
