Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Last couple of games showed a few glimpses of quality and picture passes. Still a long way to go with him but hes only 20. Worth buying imo.
Glimpses of quality for €45M plus €5M in add-ons?

You know what what Brentford paid for Mbeumo when he was 19? €6.5M - They paid €10M for Wissa. We paid €10M for Bergvall. This is what you pay for potential.

Up to €50M for a player Bayern doesn’t think is good enough after having a long look at him for 2+ years … Really?

I hope Tel becomes Mbeumo and has 28 goal contributions in a EPL season when he’s 25 years old but at the moment, Tel is a punt - you pay €6.5 to €10M for punts - not €50M. We are trying to be Brentford but paying 3x to 5x the transfer fees for our “potential” signings.

If we sign Mbeumo, Eze and an established #6 then fine - but if not and we’re spending this much on Tel and don’t bring players that are established/quality now then F me

My comment had more than just your post in mind..... A vast amount of the reaction so far centers around what I initially described.

.....Tel doesn't change much at all in terms of "what else next".

60-70m is evidently a market we're prepared to operate in (Ndom, Richy, Solanke) and is also the market in which the likes of Eze etc. reside so I'm inclined to wait and see.

.....If we get a big fee for Son (Saudi only obv.) then it's game on I'd have thought.

Son - 50m (or more? It's hard to tell... SA are nuts)
Solomon - 15/20m
Richy - 20m (perhaps more?)
Veliz - 5m (?)

= A lot of the financially heavy lifting done.
Again, this was about me saying I don’t see us signing two players of that sort of range on top of signing Tel in this window, all for similar positions. Particularly in light of 30m on Odobert last summer and 40m on Johnson the summer before that - it feels very unlikely to me.

If Tel’s signing prohibits that, it’ll be a problem and a poor signing for me.

I'll eat my hat is Son goes to Saudi. All a load of bollocks, he's not the sort.

Need to invest in positions to prevent us from conceding 60+ league goals for the 4th straight season, not attackers.

If attackers leave they need replacing.... Irrespective of what one sees as the most important recruitment position.

As for defense:

1. Crap system
2. Injuries (caused by above?)

..........With that in mind who do you want replaced?

Liverpool interested in Romero and would probably be willing to pay the 70m price tag.

It'll be interesting to see if Levy charges an English tax like he tried with Kane. It won't sit well with him selling Romero to another prem club. Atletico won't meet the 70m but my guess is Liverpool will so does Levy move the goalposts.

Hopefully Romero just signs a new contract and stays but unlikely. This could get ugly.

Like the Werner re-signing but worse in the sense we’re repeating the mistake and it’s permanent. Not shown anything but sign him anyway because it’s an easy transfer. Looks like Solomon could be staying as well. The gaps in the squad for forward signings are closing and we’ve just got a lot of shit in that area quite honestly.

The teams defensive issues have been more about system than personnel.

Obviously we need a DCM but I don’t see the need for an upgrade in the starting back 5.

We are far weaker in attack.

Ideally we would prefer to see quick sales. If levy was to drag out negotiations, this could have repercussions in what we have to spend.
Normally, he is quite comfortable just sitting and waiting around to get the price he wants.
It's not uncommon for the team to be not prepared going into the season.

Can’t help but think Frank and the coaching / analysis team are watching our games from last season back to back (at 1.5x speed to get thru them quicker). Why spend £60-70M on players when Frank might fancy the likes of Son, Johnson, Solanke, Richarlison, Kulusevski, Moore, Solomon, Maddison and Odobert in his front 3 / 4.

Tel is Son's replacement isn't he...

Must admit I don't see it with Tel at all, but I'm not thinking he can't develop into a top player but I've seen nothing yet.

If he's Son's replacement that is massively underwhelming.

Intriguing hypothetical but if we bid £70 million for Mbeumo and United can only offer £60 million, how much of a factor does the player agreeing wages with either club come into things.

Assuming United could offer £300,000 per week and we would only offer £200,00 per week who's got the go ahead for the green light?

Interesting. The club might say yes to us but the player no. And the other way around.
