Branthwaite for me prem proven 6 foot 5 so adds the necessary physicality to the backline. And with them interested in Richie we could knock the price down covers homegrown quota too which we lack on

Gooners signing Rice, Liverpool now signing Wirtz - that's what you do to improve and establish yourself at or near the top. Incremental but serious enhancements rather than the Spurs scatter-gun approach of 5-6 above average/above average or too young (not yet ready) players each year. Did it when we sold Bale and Kane.

I feel we've just gone and started the same pattern again with Tel. He's 20, he's done nothing for us so far in a Spurs shirt, and if we keep buying players for the future, we will never do anything in the league, in the 'here and now'. Whatever his cost, surely that money could have gone towards making the current first team much better, now, not in 5 years time when Tel may be in his prime (and playing for someone else, most likely) - just feels like a financial investment not a football one.

It seems like what you described is a plan, you just dont like it.

Based on all the reports I've seen so far we are going to be in for one or two established prem players to add to what is looking like a very talented set of young, hungry players who with the right coaching shouldn't take 5 years to start performing to their potential

And for the record, Rice did nothing to push Woolwich forward.

Wirtz has only just been purchased after years of buying players like Diaz, Darwin, Endo, Gravenberch etc.

Doesn’t cover LB and not much of a footballer. Heads it and clears it really well. Old school English CB with pace but teams target him in the press because he can’t pass or dribble out of pressure. I worry that we drop 60m on him and the extra scrutiny at this club exposes him a bit
