Wasn't twenty two million (at that time) for Son a risk?

We have to cut some slack to Lange (although i bet Ange knew about this player) who found Bergvall, Minsky and Vic and look at the player once he is on the pitch.

J League is no PL but neither is the Allsvenskan.
Son was signed from Bayer Leverkusen so had some experience of top level European football. BL was also the club from which we signed Dimitar Berbatov.

BL is about as safe a bet as you can get without paying top tier prices.

Wages wise £5m works out at £96k a week. Could pay that towards a player that may or may not want to come. Might help convince mbuemo for instance?
I thought it was about squad places though? People on here were saying we had to get people off the books before we could buy players?

If it's that tight, then this is a risk from just a 'not being able to get anyone else in due to squad size' risk.

He’ll go out on loan I suspect. Nobody is making the jump from such a minor league to the premier league never mind at that age. He’s got 6 months left on his contract and we are paying £5m for him, which seems a lot if you ask me. Guess it’s easier to write off transfer fees over 5 years in the hope you get a fee rather than giving a player wages. That’s how the club usually see it from historical evidence.

Obviously a £5 million gamble transfer for a player from a lesser league has never ever worked out for us so I can see how this is a justified reaction from 60% of the people on this forum.

Nobody had a fucking clue how Van De Ven would turn out, Danso from nowhere, Dragusin looked fantastic at a top league. Seems time to just stop judging a transfer immediately without watching the player play for a new manager in a new system that absolutely none of us know anything about.

Fill ya boots.

Cuti is either running his contract down or is off this Summer.

Another Grand Bargain Bin signing by Daniel Levy. 20 year old 5 million Japanese Player that will probably make the club 50 million in shirt sales. He'll also line up another Eastern Country for pre match friendlies 2026. Can get better than this. Hotels and Apartments don't pay for them selves.

Don't think he'll being going out on loan IMO. Already played lots of top flight games in the J League and has played for Japan. Think they'll keep him around.

The situation it gives the impression Romero and Dragusin are off. Vuskovic has just had a brilliant spell in Belgium, this kid is already a Japanese international. They aren’t Championship loan players like Dorrington, if they ain’t playing we at least need loans to say Bayer Laverkusen or somewhere where they will challenge themselves.

If we don’t loan and Romero and Dragusin stay we have Romero, VDV, Danso and Dragusin ahead.

We legit know that Lange and others have been brought in to do stuff like this. Brighton and Brentford make a living on signing like this Mitoma being a prime example.

This is obviously the model we wanna follow
Sugar saw us as Wimbledon with fans and Levy has now settled on something similar. I have my doubts as to whether it can be made to work (we end up paying prices they don't and have expectation they don't) but it is what it is.
