We need so much more than whatever it is you and others think of this number 6.

I just recall the days when we talked of buying defenders, midfielders and strikers.

People get swamped by the definitions of others.

Let's hope we find good players and less of the bad ones.

Simples.
We need a player that can sit deep in midfield and be a shield for the defence - particularly Porro when he bursts forwards, so every 30 seconds. The player also needs to be comfortable receiving the ball in tough situations I.e. 25 yards from our goal on the half turn whilst being pressed, and then either carrying that ball forwards or playing passes forwards to get us on the attack. Chip in with a handful of goals and assists whilst also dictating play.

All of our best Prem sides have had this type of player, whether they were an out and out 6 or not - we’re essentially needing a new Parker, Carrick, Modric, Dembele.

Hopefully that’s clear enough for you in terms of definition. A top player in this position would be so much more beneficial for us than Eze

So in 4 of the last 5 seasons we have signed 2 players from other prem teams.

20/21- PEH and Doherty.
21/22-0
22/23- Richarlison and Bissouma
23/24- Maddison and Johnson
24/25- Solanke and Odobert

Think it's safe to say that we will probably continue with similar.

Who that is I have no Idea

If we want these "generational talent" players that come through with massive hype every few years to start fulfilling their potential they need to be given meaningful first team minutes once they're hitting 20. You can make an argument for loaning a teenager but if you've made the call that a 20-22 year old is not good enough for your side and you can't find a club playing in a comparable level to your league to loan them to then they should be moved on ASAP while their hype factor is still high. Pointless letting them sit in the reserves til they're 23 and releasing them for nothing. The likes of Devine, Phillips, Donley really need decisions made, give these guys game time when we can afford to and see what they do playing first team football, so many young players go up several levels lightning fast when exposed to the elite senior game.
Yeah now that we've missed out on Eze I'm thinking we just sign nobody and use Donley and Moore next year. They both look ready. It could be short term pain for long term gain. I remember being initially dissapointed that dele alli was playing regularly for us because he was just a kid and then he just took off. Players need exposure.

Fuck getting Semenyo or someone worse. If you can't sign the best players then just give your own guys the chance! Donley could be sufficient cover for Maddison.

Totally agree. We keep buying all these young players and give them a chance and over look our own academy.
What was the point of signing Veliz for good money when he is no better than Scarlett or Lankshear.
I'm all for signing top young talents but we are overloaded with these players now and they are blocking the pathway for our own

You're right on one hand but generally cream tends to rise to the top anyway, if Yorke good enough then you're gonna get more opportunities over someone who isn't so I don't see signing players like Veliz as blocking a pathway, if our homegrown lads take their opportunities that come to them albeit with us or on loan then they will succeed regardless.
