If we’re talking numbers I believe he got 24g/a all comps in his first season at West Ham, he could do a lot better than that under right conditions playing for us. He’s an exceptional dribbler, can strike a ball well it’s just about consistency and mentality with him. I could see him benefiting from playing at a team not camped in their own half most of the game where he has to basically dribble the ball 40 yards to create something. We have much better players than West Ham and will be in attacking situations more frequently, that alone will be of benefit to him.

For us I think he solves a big problem we have out wide in being a technical player who can hold onto possession + can also make that run behind the full back, we currently lack technical wide players who can dribble at oppo full backs. He’s only 24 a lot of room to still grow and Frank has a good record at developing talent.

I reckon on the list he was 2nd or 3rd behind mbeumo for RW.

Had a look, you are right it was 25 goals and assists in all comps.

Which tbf isn’t bad. You’ve talked me into the idea a bit.

TBH I really wanted us to sign him before he went wham and on form, he’s a fucking nightmare for defenders.

Is he all there upstairs though?

Exactly right. He’s a great signing.

People are stuck on moments. When played off the right hes one of the best players in the league.

More successful dribbles over two seasons than anyone else.

If he only aims it externally at the opposition it won’t matter (within reason).

We could do with a few ‘orrible c@nts in the team as we can be a little too nice at times.

I can’t speak for anyone else but my relationship with Tottenham Hotspur is built on so much more than the club’s ability and willingness to hoover up as many trophies as possible by treating the sport like a video game with cheat codes plugged in. If that’s truly all you want then fair play, that’s your prerogative. Personally, I’d much rather be subjected to the “misery” of the current ownership (which has seen us play in Europe nearly every season for two decades running, make it to a number of cup finals and be entertaining to watch more often than not with world class players frequently passing through our ranks) than be just another sportswashing plaything bathing in unearned glory.

Someone elsewhere in this thread said “ask Man City fans if they care.” I’m much more interested in whether they could ever possibly feel the way we felt after Bilbao, because I know the answer is “no.” I wouldn’t trade that feeling for their entire ill-gotten trophy cabinet. I want Levy to do more to ensure that there will be more Bilbaos in our future, but for me, simply becoming another Chelsea or City would be a slap in the face to all the reasons why I fell in love with Tottenham to begin with and would suck all the joy out of continuing to support this amazing club.

It's still Tottenham, organically from the old days, evolved from its past successes and failures.

Not just a bunch of blokes playing in Tottenham coloured shirts. For me I admire that we do things the right way, although the owners that are currently in charge simply don't take enough risks. Its essential in any business to do so and Levy & co simply don't, hence the backwards steps we've seen the club make in recent times.

Can someone with Photoshop skills and too much time on their hands put Levy's head onto Mr Bumbles please ?

Agreed

We do need a few more characters who will say “fuck it, I’ll do my myself”.

It’s still obvious that Kudus wasn’t top of the list and climbed because of the financials but I can see a world where he’s good for us.

I agree, it is unlikely. But he would be a nice placeholder until Tel is fully ready to own that position. I would guess a lot depends on their sense of whether Son is staying or going.
Tel is our marquee signing as far as our attack is concerned. If Sonny and/or Richy go, we'll sign another random kid...maybe.

But Tel-Dom-Brennan is defo the starting trident next season, with Sonny/Mikey (loaned out if Sonny stays) - Richy/Lanks (loaned out if Richy stays) - Kulu (probs the backup 10)/Odo the deputies.

We tried, the market was difficult, impossible to improve on what we've got etc etc
