Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’m giving up on this wee shit buying some players it’s the same old Levy waiting to the last day of the transfer window and he will lose Eze to the darkside. Others are buying now to give the coach time to get them working in unison with the whole team. Every year the same!

Levy bought in four players last season the first week in July. I think Bergvall, and Gray were two of them?

Secondly if you look at say Liverpool, Slott has had a whole season to assess players and plan for this Summer's targets.

Frank has been with us for three weeks.

Eze won't be coming, so prepare yourself for a longer period of misery.

What we can be sure of is that Frank will have a squad and additions to the current squad that he is looing for.

It's an up and down life for those running Spurs feeds. No end of drama during the season, fans in riot mode most of the time, then transfer season nothing happens and you have to make things up.

"Have Spurs Backed Their Managers"

Fuck me, we spent over $500 mil for Ange’s 2 season and what’ve we got to show for it player personnel wise? It’s an indictment on the clubs recruiting and transfer/payment policy.
How many that made up that 500 mil would get into pool or city teams? Maybe Maddison VDV and …..Bergvall eventually

Stats indicate he's an excellent dribbler and a good passer.

he has ability but he doesn't seem to be involved an awful lot.

One thing I have noticed with the FBref Att/Mid tab quite a few players come up looking very average even if you look at similar players for example at Anthony Gordons it doesn't look good for him either and he walks into our team.

I was just looking at it to see if I was missing something as I am not convinced he is anything apart from being slightly above average.

He just seems like another Johnson level of quality. All we are doing is adding another body rather than improving the squad or lifting it a level with the signing, like bringing in Eze would do.

Frank will already have assessed the squad. You don't need to see some of these players in the flesh to know they are not good enough.

Exactly. It would 100% come up at interview. If we are asking the right questions, which I suspect we are during the recruitment process then we’d ask the candidate his plans for the squad and individual players. It’s impossible not to. All this waiting for them to be back for training is nonsense. Decisions will already have been made. Frank has been watching us for years so will know lots about the squad.

Beyond that we have a technical director, we have scouts. We should understand Franks system and style and understand our own players. Brighton have a system of a player or manager leaves they have lists of replacements ready to go. Modern clubs are far more than the manager. I don’t mind a little bit of time but this should be done very quickly.

If we leave all the transfers to the last minutes then we hurt our season as we will have far less time to integrate them. Also it’s pretty obvious we need a RW and DM, we should be able to bring them in before sales, those two positions are where we clearly lack.

But we don’t ever do that. We are reactive in the market. The players we seem to identify just aren’t the level either.

I think Frank is the type that wants to see them in training before assessing them. I don't think he is the YouTube highlights assessing type.
He's been a manager in same league for past 4 seasons he knows the players inside out especially with Brentfords impressive data collection & database.
He will likely need to see the kids in training and on tour but he should know day 1 whether likes of biss, bentancur, Johnson etc are players he can put into whatever system he wants to play

And in so many more !!
