Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's had one good season and one very bad season. And his good season wasn't leap out and spend 60-70m on him good either.

The doubts over him as fair. There are an element of the fanbase who will say all sorts of things when they think a player is coming here - see Timo bloody Werner.

Kudus has talent and is a decent player but is a firmly underwhelming target.
You & I both know who (singular) on here will talk about Kudus like he's Ronaldinho if he joins and gets say 6-8 goals and 4-5 assists across all comps.

Then when we say it ain't good enough for 60 mil and a club like ours, we'll be called enemies of the state and told we always shoot our players down whilst overrating our opponents.

It's just kind of the worst part of the age/experience/provenness/potential/price/wages spectrum.

Spend less for a younger less proven talent. Spend the same for an older proven player without the same upside and sell on value. Spend more for a true stud. Any of them seem better than this.

I think he'd probably do quite well - he's a lot better than Brennan Johnson and better than Kulu, Tel etc.

But if that's the big signing the club can fuck off. And you know it will be.
Finish 17th with 22 losses, claim you're after the PL & CL...hire Frank as head coach, extend Ben & Roddy, sign Takai, make Tel & Kudus your superstar signings.

Nobody has an issue with Johnson's productivity - he does nothing outside of it. Bowen bends it in from 20-25 yards regularly and scores a wide range of goals. He also takes on his man and he is about twice as creative. He also gets stuck in which is something fans moan about ... and he does it all in an absolutely garbage team which he has to carry whereas Brennan is waiting at the back stick.
If you look at Johnson's defensive stats against Bowen's, again they are very comparable. 101 tackles, 19 interceptions, 21 clearances. Bowen has fewer tackles, less than 0.5 per 90 minutes, whilst his interceptions and blocks are much of a muchness with BJ. There's a perception that he does more off the ball, when in fact he actually doesn't.
I'll agree on his delivery from wide, though he's only marginally more productive than BJ with an Xa of 0.21 against 0.15. again, comparable.
16 goals 6 assists and 13 goals 8 assists back to back for THAT West Ham team is very good going given everything else he does in the team.
I don't disagree. What I'm getting at here is that he is perceived as "elite," and worth forking out £80M plus for, when he's not shown anything more to his game to warrant that, particularly when we already have a winger, playing in a hugely dysfunctional team, that matched/bettered him in many aspects of his game, not just goals scored.

Kudus's Xa was 3.2 for the season, outstripping Bowen quite significantly from what I can find.

Again, fan perceptions are not to be trusted

And if West Ham *had* to sell him to us he'd refuse to come as he hates Spurs. He is married to Danny Dyer's daughter, a proper 'Mr West Ham', and he'd ruin his, and his friends and families lives.
Irony of it is, is that he really didn’t want to join them. They were the last option as all the other big clubs passed him up…. Us included

He had relegation escape clauses inserted and was clear the reluctance in signing

Big miss that one

Bit hammered are we still behaving like some chicken shit nobodies

He was at Bayern already at 17, he never really played at Rennes.

Tel's never been a regular starter the way Fofana was this year.

It's by no means time to give up on Tel, but Fofana has probably surpassed him as a prospect this season. If Lyon sells (and they will have to if they go down) everyone will be in for him.

You are right he’d been snapped up by 17,

This was Tel in the French league at 17

The level was already looking like he was ready to bounce.

He then scored 10 and 6 assists in 1000 minutes for Bayern.

He struggled when Kane arrived but I don’t think Fofana even made the France u21 squad for the Euros…?

There’s no world that he’s surpassed him because of a decent season in France.

They finished ahead of us two seasons in a row, but okay.

Just my opinion, but their keeper is better than our temperamental manchild. Digne is better than Udogie, their CB aren't better or worse than any of ours, they have proper 6s in Kamara and Onana, Watkins outscored Solanke, Rogers would've walked into our first XI...

Gordon-Isak-Murphy is better than Sonny/Tel-Dom/Richy-Brennan/Odobert in my books.

Trippier-Schar-Burns-Livramento was also more solid than Porro-Romero-Micky-Udogie.
Close comparisons.

Spurs/Villa Combined xi:
Martinez
Porro Romero VDV Udogie
Tielmans Kamara Maddison
Kulusevski Watkins Rogers
6 spurs 5 Villa

Spurs/Newcastle
Vicario
Livramento Romero VDV Hall
Tonali BrunoG Maddison
Kulusevski isak Gordon
5 spurs 6 Newcastle

Much for muchness. Appreciate we'll all have a different opinion. Some people want us to sell Kulusevski. I'd have him starting for most teams in the league! Game of opinion

No way. Not when fit and firing (which is a persistent problem for us, fair enough)
The league table and goals conceded column don't seem to agree with your take, my man.

Also, the best ability is availability...Romero & Micky would do well to remember that.

It's crazy how hugely them two + Udo & Pedders are overrated by our own fanbase.
