Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

My daughter works in animation. I've been subjected to animé for years now, from Howl's Moving Castle to the latest K-Pop Demon Hunters. Having said that, I was a Battle of the Planets and Ulysses fan when I was a kid.

Some stuff I've liked, like Full Metal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop, some I've found mind numbingly boring, like most of the Studio Gibli films.

I couldn't get into the Gundam ones though.
Blatant my real name is Walt Disney post

Yeah no arguments from me on that list. Except maybe Raphinha. I know he had an incredible season but I suspect it was a freak year and he will be back to being predictable and not that productive this year
Everything is possible, especially with them mercurial type talents...look at Ousmane Dembele. And yeah La Liga is easier than the PL. But I think even Raphinha at 70-80% is (much) better than any of our current wingers at their best.

Very pissed now , really heavy lunch .

Is there anything positive being rumoured
Not yet, Levy & his gang still checking public records & newspapers here and abroad to identify clubs in distress and urgent need of cash.

Solanke 3rd highest no of minutes played last season. Not injury prone was he ?

1 Porro - 4,133 mins (45 games equivalent)
2 Kulusevski - 3,452 (38)
3 Solanke - 3,389 (38)
4 Johnson - 3,315 (37)

Solanke, Maddison, Kulusevski, Johnson and Son all 5 about equal in goals/assists all with 20+. Solanle's pressing key for Spurs. Sharing the goals/assists absolutely essential for Spurs and worked well - no reliance upon any one player

Richarlison was the alternate striker last season- he only managed 842 minutes in 24th place. Hence our reliance upon others to fill the gap. He's the one everyone agrees neds to go if we get a half decent fee to help us buy his replacement
Thanks for posting them numbers. I'd argue that the 4 players on that list are our 4 most underrated players. They get no credit for their durability at all. Instead people will focus in their tired performances during a difficult run. Kulusevski is a good recent example. Phenomenal up until November until we picked up 10+ injuries and couldn't rest him throughout the entire festive period. His form totally fell off then yet people on here now judge him as that player who was clumsily giving the ball away in January. Not the player who was unplayable in October.

Same with Porro! All his best performances for us came after he got a rest! There is probably still people on here who think Spence is better!

If you look at Johnson's defensive stats against Bowen's, again they are very comparable. 101 tackles, 19 interceptions, 21 clearances. Bowen has fewer tackles, less than 0.5 per 90 minutes, whilst his interceptions and blocks are much of a muchness with BJ. There's a perception that he does more off the ball, when in fact he actually doesn't.
I'll agree on his delivery from wide, though he's only marginally more productive than BJ with an Xa of 0.21 against 0.15. again, comparable.

I don't disagree. What I'm getting at here is that he is perceived as "elite," and worth forking out £80M plus for, when he's not shown anything more to his game to warrant that, particularly when we already have a winger, playing in a hugely dysfunctional team, that matched/bettered him in many aspects of his game, not just goals scored.

Kudus's Xa was 3.2 for the season, outstripping Bowen quite significantly from what I can find.

Again, fan perceptions are not to be trusted

Johnson had 2.9 xA last season to Bowen’s 7.63, a huge difference. And Bowen exceeded xG by 3 whereas Johnson matched xG because Bowen was adding value with his goals by mixing it up with shots outside of 15 yards..

Johnson did better creative wise the season before but only scored 5 league goals .. Bowen can do both elements and does so consistently while being a hugely more impactful player on the ball.

FBref comparison has Bowen in much higher percentiles for progressive carries, take ons, touches in opposition box etc.. this despite playing large parts of a season as a striker because West Ham didn’t have one so you’d expect him to be less involved.

Brennan doesn’t match or better Bowen in anything other than off the ball movement.. he’s a worse striker of the ball, a worse dribbler, less creative on the ball.. I’ll accept the defensive gap might not be as big as thought but at every element of being a dangerous wide player Bowen is monumentally clear.

Stats aren’t even needed here. Anyone can see the gap with their eyes. You may as well say Yamals stats are comparable.

Yup, unfortunately that's why he is going to chelsea.

If we were doing this deal it would have been further ahead by the time the news broke. Levy has never gone toe to toe with any of the other top 6 and signed the player. Inevitably he ducks out of any competition to sign a player against those clubs because he knows he's not in the same league as their owners and chairmen.

Very pissed now , really heavy lunch .

I think we should make up our own rumors. Why should be football media be the only ones in on the fun?

"Sources close to a service station attendant in Serbiton are reporting Ollie Watkins is open to a move to Spurs. An initial offer of 40 million has been rebuffed by Villa, but it is believed Spurs are preparing a second offer to include 5 million worth of Son Heung-min team store merchandise."

Both Solanke and Richarlison were over 60m. They need to score more goals.

Dramatic. I bet if a chance to sign for a CL level team on 200k+ a week at the age of 29 (his chance of a big move is rapidly running out) at a club where he'd be guaranteed first choice right winger which would help a lot for England chances .. he fucking takes it regardless of the dad in law throws a strop.

But West Ham won't ever sell him as it would mean a relegation scrap. And we shouldn't be buying 29 year old wingers.
Some things are bigger than football. A few years at Spurs vs a lifetime of domestic bother. Spurs would not be his only exit opp if it came to it. If it's about money he can always do a few years in Saudi.

Sources in Madrid have mooted a shock swap deal between Atleti and Spurs for Christian Romero and Julian Alvarez

This has driven me insane for years. No it isn't!

There are the same 7 days in a week! Wednesday to Saturday is the same amount of time as Thursday to Sunday! Saturday to the next Tuesday is LESS time than Sunday to the next Thursday!

It's so fucking obvious why the Europa League teams handle that schedule poorly, because Europa League teams lack the quality and depth of Champions League teams on average!

And we saw what happened when we didn't have it.

The focus will be on the league this year, understandably. Bar a level of reinforcements we know aren't coming, look out below in midweek.
Another element is that playing Sundays means you are always chasing and this can have a psychological impact, especially during the run in.

Johnson probably has the best movement in the box in the league and is a good finisher. If Porro was a left back honestly think Johnson would of had 30 goals last season. He's a flawed player but the way people talk about him on here is bonkers.

Expecting a 20 plus goal tally under Frank this season, he'll fucking love him.
