Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The club had to make a statement signing that summer because they knew Kane was leaving. Maddison took Kane's shirt number and near enough his salary.

That has nothing to do with the previous point, that implied we worry about other players wanting parity.

The wage structure and salaries have and do increase. We aren't going to do a United and start paying £40k per week players £200k for the sake of it.
Consider that even we don't go that silly, but end up with the likes of Reguilion, Ndombele, Gil, Doherty, Aurier etc stuck here because we paid them more than other clubs would.

We do have a massive squad in terms of numbers, and Frank might be the type of manager to be happy with the level of players he has at his disposal here after managing Brentford for so long. He is a coach who believes he can improve any player so yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he says he is happy with the squad just as it is

We have numbers but not the depth to handle CL and PL and not the quality to try and win either of them

You're not really making a point here
My point was perfectly simple to comprehend, I'm surprised that I need to explain it to you.

Darren Bent was a better player than Solanke is, and he was the club's 3rd or 4th choice CF at the time, because of Berbatov, Keane, and Defoe.

So the club has regressed now that Solanke is the main CF. And some supporters are trying to make out he's better than his stats which are 9 goals per season as I already stated before you piped up.

Obviously we were never going to act like a big club here.
It’s hard to tell the guy who’s stuck by us through thick and thin when he could’ve easily went to any club in the world he wanted at his peak to fuck off.

The man’s the biggest legend at our club since Hoddle. He’s more than earned the right to decide his future here himself without being pushed out the door.

There’s no doubt he’s slowed down a bit, but Ange was not playing to his strengths at all by forcing him to play as wide as he did. Frank seems to prefer inside forwards to wingers and that will suit Sonny.

Purely in terms of the effort made over 90 minutes I'd say Solanke was four times the player Darren Bent was.

Who can forget the disinterested clap over his shoulder as he really exerted himself and broke into a gentle stroll across the centre circle.

At least the majority of Spurs fans see it for what it is now.

Levy’s game is up. He will keep playing it anyway but the smoke has lifted.

We will be following the same non-competitive wage structure we have since before the stadium. We will over pay for lower wage players to feign ambition. We will sell high wage players when they get good enough to demand wages outside the structure. We will use friendly media to give the appearance that it’s not just about wages. We will increase the ticket prices.

Solanke is employed to score goals.

Solanke 161 Premier League appearances 38 goals, so about 9 goals per season in perfect line with last season's stats.

Darren Bent 276 Premier League appearances, 106 goals. 276 divided by 38 = about 7 (seasons) so about 15 goals per season.

Darren Bent wasn't even first choice CF he was 3rd or 4th choice.

Thomas Frank is said to be happy with the squad he’s seen in training and doesn’t feel wholesale changes will be required.

Tel will likely get most minutes between the 2 of them, but I think Sonny will still have a lot to offer in a much more limited role.
9 league assists isnt bad considering the performance of the team in the league, just 1 less than world class golden boy Saka and Player of the year nominee Fernandes .
There's still real quality there that hopefully frank can exploit

Maybe hard to tell him that but if you want to win and you think he’s on the decline, you need to make hard decisions

Which players have we sold in the past, that have gone to a club paying them higher wages, where that was the motivation to leave? Must be loads of them for you to believed this is something we’ve either done, or will do.

Kane? Bale? Modric? Berbatov? All went to further their ambitions, not their pay packets, as far as I know. Can you suggest anyone?

Kane got paid more

If we had a more competitive wage structure, he could have achieved his career ambitions with us.

Don’t get cute, you know why players have to leave to further their ambitions and you also know why we don’t sign players that make it possible to achieve those ambitions with us.

With minimal expectations i didnt believe even this mob would be daft enough to keep a squad that finished 17th together. Guess we should have known when they gave Davies that years extension.

Starting to think at best now its Kudus and a 6 but only if we sell Bissouma. We have a huge squad and increasingly clear we're struggling to shift any of them.
