Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I reckon so as well, they just want to make sure we pay enough that their fans can be satisfied with it and I'd say a similar fee to Richy/Solanke makes it a much easier sell. Spam fans are pretty divided on him going as far as I can see, seems to be an acceptance that with Potter as their manager he doesn't fit the side and since Potter is far more likely to be there past the summer than Kudus they'd rather have the money to bring in more Potter-oriented players.
If they weren't all such insufferable cunts I might actually feel sorry for them tbh, Potter has worried me as much as Southgate when his name has come up in our manager conversation, plays the most boring goal-shy football in the entire league IMO.

Mbuemo vs Kudus -

Mbuemo doesnt make much mistakes while Kudus comes on back of a season where he gave away possession 85 times.
But then its also fact that WestHam were horrible going forward wasting most of the chances he created.

Kudus for me has a far bigger ceiling than Mbuemo. And Frank is the best manager to make that possibility real

Let’s hope something. Another player in 12-18 months everyone realises isn’t good enough and we can’t shift, preventing getting a better player in. We are stuck in this awful talent ID circle.

Compared to the majority of our attacking signings over the years Kudus actually had some skills and ability. He would be the best since we signed Son in 2015

I think Kudus is a decent signing but I do agree that the overall standard of potential signings is not what it once was.

The players Spurs should target are not as obvious as they should be.

Players on the up used to stand out from the rest and once they were signed would improve and sustain the improvement.

Many players seem to rise and fall quite quickly in the 2020's.

Especially English players and especially those who get a long contract on huge money.

Something has gone wrong.

We do have to shape the team. It’s all very well saying Kulusevski can play right wing or Bentancur can play DM but it’s back to the whole square pegs.

RB: fine
RCB: Romero, Danso, Vuskovic, Dragusin - fine
LCB: VDV, Davies - Davies is coming to the end so need upgrade
LB: need cover for Udogie other than Spence who covers the right
DM: Bissouma is off probably, Bentencur isn’t a DM, Gray is still learning. Need a top DM.
CM: Bentancur, Bergvall, Sarr. Fine
AM: Maddison, Kulusevski, Donley. Both Kulu and Donley need to step up
RW: Johnson, need Kudus
ST: Richy and Solanke. Ok but not perfect
LW: Son, Solomon, Moore, Tel, Odobert. Probably to many.

Badly need: RW and DM
Also need: LB and LCB cover

Bentancur was never a 6. Another round peg in square hole from Ange. Jude awful.

Kulu’s best statistical season came from him playing RW cutting inside. And I think we see that again under Frank.

Everyone knows 6/DM is the biggest need but no one can mention a realistic option.

I see our depth as
RW- Johnson/Kulu/Kudus (?)
LW - Son/Tel
Odobert probably LW/RW/ and the 10

For CM, Frank needs to figure out how to get the best from Beegvall, Sarr ane Gray.

why can't we plonk £60m down for that defensive midfielder? A position we are desperate for. And follow that up with £70m on a striker? Wages? Koph!

You can bet your left knacker they will find the funds to build this bloody hotel though eh

I'm not really sure what some of you are thinking when people say we only need 3 players. We are miles behind the best teams. Absolutely miles.
We are, yes.

However, if we are looking to improve the first 11, and I hope to fuck we are, instead of the usual squad filler, then 3 players is probably the sweet spot per window. Any more than that and we may struggle to integrate them properly. Plus, rich or not rich, it’s tough to afford the replacement of an entire first team.

I am not sure about Kudus. Seems like a bit of a head down player, all tricks with little end product. That said, I have only seen him when we've played West Ham. He does bring something our front line lacks - explosive power, ball retention, and 1-v-1 skills. According to a spammer at work he is much better off the right than the left, and had been played out of position to accommodate Bowen. We (the fan base) need a flair player signing, so if we get him across the line it'll be exciting.

They have 10 more players than we do, likely even more than that now.

On average, there is a half million difference between what they pay each player per year and what we do. In essence, that's an extra £9.5K per player more.

You think that's unacceptable?

You’re not thinking this through. They pay an extra 500k per player on average and have many more players on the payroll than we do. That tells me their players that don’t even play have very high wages. In other words, they have lots of well paid bench warmers and we don’t. It means they should have significantly better depth than us.

Not digging out Kudus , digging out our recruitment which has been pretty crap imho . The decent players we have are injury prone and the rest are a bit meh

I think that's just a symptom of the football and coaching we had for 2 years that suited less physical leagues.

Can't expect that level of tactical intensity and see players keeping fit, which partly leads to poor form too

Kudus is a good player and a good signing. Problem is he is only one player. People spend their time umming and aahing whether he is any good but miss the bigger point.

We need 5 or 6 quality signings like Kudus. We just dont do the numbers of ins and outs required to be competitive.

Chelsea have Estevao, Gittens and Pedro coming in. May even still bid for Kudus if they can sell a player or 2.

Woolwich have brought in Zubi and close to Gyokeres and want Rodrygo.

Everything is slow and doing the minimum at this club.

This window highlights the chain between us and tha lot. (The red ones)

They have clarity about what they want and can sell the concept.

We simply posture, and as I keep saying,it's not just about the money. It's careful consideration and then pounce, not ponce

The one balance to my criticism is the newness of a manager who has to try and rebuild, ,not from the bottom but from a lower base than any Spurs a manager for a long time.

He runs into the odd blind alley as any dribbly winger will do from time to time but I think his spatial awareness is far too good to give him the "head down" tag, we are absolutely screaming for a player who does what he does, even if he didn't put up earth-shattering GA stats for us the way he would pull opposition defences out of shape as guys track across to double up on him would give the rest of our attack acres more space to operate in, something I'd be very excited to see Maddison make use of tbh.
When you watch him you will very often see him doubled up on and yet he will very often leave both guys for dead taking them out of the equation in advance of a decisive pass/shot. Literally any player in our entire squad right now, if you double up on them, they are out of the game, no question.

We’ve hired a new coach with an entirely new staff behind him, Frank plays a different system to the previous manager (or lack of system if we’re referring to Ange ball) and therefore I find it normal and acceptable that we are not going balls-to-the -wall in the transfer market.

How would Frank find the conviction to demand such a drastic change to the squad as 5 or 6 new players if he hasn’t had any time in training with the boys? It’s unreasonable for fans to expect that this summer with a new head coach.

2-3 quality additions this summer will be a good start for the Frank era.
