Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Several means "more than two but not many."

In this case, Gyokores has had two seasons in Portgual.

He scored 38 goals in 91 games when he signed permanently for Coventry in the Championship, 41 in 110 for the club in total. Best season was 21 in 46

Solanke scored 44 in 86 in the championship for Bournemouth. Best season was 29 in 46.

So why is it a wankfest over Gyokores but a dig at Solanke? People keep saying he scored 9 last season, too - ignoring that it was 9 in 27 in the league, but 16 goals over all comps. It's not too far off the peak of Adebayor
Sporting's 27-year-old Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres is prepared to give up about £2m in wages to help push through his £70m move to Woolwich. (Record - in Portuguese)
Prepared to give up £2m in wages...?
So they're saying the Arse won't pay it, and that he's OK with that....

IMAGINE how the same scenario will be reported when WE'RE the ones not prepared to pay exorbitant wages...

Difference is, everyone seems hell bent in joining THEM... we've gotta beg a bit more!

bus-conductor bus-conductor realistic thoughts on how you would shake up the squad? We both seem happy with Kudus, but I'm concerned to bring in more we need to sell which may not be easy (in fact we've been poor at sales in recent years).

The problem is, I think this squad is so weak, it needs so much more than a little tinker. 4 of the regular front 6 from last year need upgrading, along with some of their rotations.

Doing the job properly:

I’d start by offloading as many of Richarlison, Kulu (might have to wait until January now ffs) Johnson, Bentancur, Bissouma, Davies, Dragusin as possible. Maybe even Son too. Loan out Gray.

If you can’t sell them, ship them on loan/buys so they aren’t clogging up the squad/Non hg.

Then buy Baleba or Bouaddi. Stiller or MGW, Robinson, Akliouche and/or Kudus, and one of Malik Fofana, Simons or Sancho (loan/option). And a decent footballing CB if we sell Romero or a promising young footballing CB if we don’t. Then look to upgrade Solanke (rendering him back up) next summer.

RB - Porro/Spence
LB - Udogie/Robinson
CB - Romero/VDV/Danso/New?
6 - Baleba/Bouaddi/Bissouma
8 - Maddison/Bergval/Stiller or MGW/Sarr
RF - Tel/Odobert/new (Fofana//Simons/Sanchez
LF - Akliouche/Kudus
CF - Solanke

Realistically it all depends on how much of our dross we can shift, and shifting junk is always hard.

In rough priority order we need:

URGENT
at least one IRF (Kudus/Akliouche),
at least one 6 (Baleba/Bouaddi),
one 8 (Stiller or MGW) and depending on sales A

URGENT-ISH
CB (who can play football)
one quality ready ILF
a LB.
Upgrade CF (keep Solanke as rotation)
upgrade Keeper

Chelsea would do that in one window. We’ll still be fucking around making half arsed compromised choices that will themselves need upgrading for the next 2-3 seasons, and so on.

I don't think Porro and Walker are especially close tbh, Walker might be the most athletic football player ever to grace the PL, and though he wasn't the best defender in the world by any means he did have a keener understanding of defending than Porro has ever displayed. Rose also was very good at peak for us, certainly you'd hope Udogie has a higher ceiling but as of right now he hasn't made a very strong argument for displacing Rose. Jan and Toby would walk in on availability alone, hard to plan your season around 2 CBs that miss 50% of your games.

Bentancur and Bissouma have both shown periods of form where they've been well clear of Sissoko but not for a full season. Wanyama's 1 good season for us was head and shoulders above what either have shown over a full season IMO.
yeah can't disagree with any of that. My only arguement would be that each of the back 4 have the potential of becoming better than their predecessors. VDV and Udogie have higher ceilings than Vertonghen and Rose ever did. Romero on a going day is better than Toby but Toby was available all season and rarely put a foot wrong so hard to argue a case for Cuti just yet. This version of Porro isn't that far behind the Spurs version of Walker. Walker improved alot as a player at City. Bentancur is good enough to get in over Wanyama/Sissoko too if he can get backt o his peak level.

Agree that there isn't a case for anyone else. As much as I rave about Maddison and Kulusevski, Eriksen and Alli were different class.

We dropped a bollock by letting Madueke go didn't we...?
With Arse sniffing around, we'd have to spend upwards of £50m to bring back a homegrown player...
2 birds, 1 stone??

If Arse end up with Gorkeres, Eze and Madueke... those are all players we either could, should or DID have at the club!

This is gonna be a SLIDING DOORS WINDOW!!!!

Senior quality - Dom, Son, Cuti, Porro, Bentancur, Vicario, Richarlison, Madders, Kulusevski, and Biss (if he can get some consistency)

I wouldn’t say there is a ‘serious lack of senior quality’ - some gaps need plugged ala Kudus, a CDM, and another quality fullback but we have a good spine of senior players and I am certain they will all perform much better under a coach who knows that he’s doing.
The fact your including Bissouma in there defeats your argument straight away. Consistency is the name of the game and he drops off every season. He has more bad games than good games every season. You can't just keep hoping he'll find consistency. This will be his 4th season. Sell him and buy someone else! Can't let another season fall off because of Bissouma

Disagree. His ultimate end product can be erratic, but he’s still scoring/assisting at 1/2 rate. Doku’s XA90 is ok, but his value is in breaking lines, his xbuildup and xchain values are exceptionally good. For a team who have to break deep blocks almost every week, he’s a very useful tool.
If Doku was a Spurs player you'd find him so frustrating. One of my pet hates on here is people who love to give out about our players and then always talk up opposition players.

NGL I'm worried about Woolwich this season. Expecting a drop off from Liverpool, and not sure City have done enough in the window. Woolwich look like the finished product now if they sign all these players. Worrying times

Noni Madueke is not even HG in England. He takes up one of the 17 foreign slots. There is also no way they sign all three unless they sell Martinelli.

Hope we get Kudus wrapped up this week. Not because he is my dream signing and I'm paranoid that we might get hijacked. More so because I want us to be fully focused on getting in a proper midfield player to replace bissouma. Thats the big transfer that we can't get wrong this summer! We need to be prioritising this or next season has no chance!

If we end up going into next season with no new midfield player and still relying on Bissouma to play most our games. Then forget about it. It'll be the 4th year in a row where his form totally nose dives

Zubimendi would have been the perfect signing for us, makes me sick those cunts up the road have nailed him

I'm naively hoping that Woolwich having such a good window will put pressure on Levy to do something similar. It's currently night and day between us.

I know, I'm a fool for thinking this...

Not sure about a drop off from Liverpool tbh if anything think they will be better than last season and hopefully so, best of a bad bunch to win the league for us.
City are going to be 50/50 whether they can 'go again' after another draining season and summer of no rest.
I wouldn't worry too much about Woolwich yet though regardless of getting these other signings over the line.
