So the scum being active and ambitious in the transfer market and you must:
Otherwise you are a closet Gooner? TFC logic.
Yes they haven't won anything yet but they are a hell of a lot closer to winning major honours than we are (that wasn't the case 5 years ago).
Trophies are never guaranteed but their board at least show ambition to try and win - that's all you can ask for as a fan.
A reminder that burying one's head in the sand does not a PWOPPA Spurs make.
The point, for me, is that they aren't being "active and ambitious".
The point is that people look at something in a vacuum and apply all of the benefit of doubt and filtering at that thing - in this case, a rival club - and go on some onanistic frenzy about it being "ambitious" and "backing the manager". When it applies to spurs, it is the opposite.
For example, in this season just gone we signed 3 players in the winter window - Kinsky, Danso, Tel (maybe 5+ if you include min-hyeok and mason melia). With 2 of those players we went on to win a European Trophy. But it's a disaster and we shouldn't have signed Tel, because he's shit, and the other two aren't good enough and practically don't exist.
Woolwich, meanwhile, are 3 pts or so off the title race and need a striker - they sign no one. No business at all. They then spend 6 months trying to negotiate a fee for a player that has a release clause, then end up paying over it, then then 7 months late are merely
linked to a striker - not even signing him - and all of a sudden they are a paragon of how to run a club and back a manager.
Liverpool get a new manager in and they 'back him' with a goalkeeper who won't sign for a year, and a chronically injured Chiesa. They leave their 3 best players contracts to run down, one of which leaves, the other two go down to the end of the season. They then sign a replacement RB and all of a sudden they are the best run club in, like, the whole history of football. How can a club possible
be so well run?
Twitter link for spurs to a sign a player "ffs levy won't do it" "we are not a serious club" "we are a laughing stock for not signing anyone yet" (despite having actually signed 3 or 4 permanents this window, technicality or not)
Twitter link for Woolwich to sign a player "OMFG it hurts watching them be so well run" "they are light years ahead of us".
