Buy Baleba for 60 odd mil.

Sell Sarr to Brighton for 30-40...with a first refusal type clause & buyback price of 50 valid for two years.

So much hype for Baleba. Same was there was for Caidedo. Brighton are essentially rebranding the same crack to keep the addicts interested and bigger clubs can’t help themselves.

Baleba was rubbish his first season and a decent MOTD player in his second but Baleba was nowhere near the player Caicedo was in his last Brighton season. Tbh I think Bissouma at Brighton was better than Baleba last year.

Buying 19 year old Baleba from Lille for €27 mill - :angryscouser:

Buying 21 year old Baleba from Brighton for €100 mill -

The kid looks like an Owen Hargreaves regen. Very good on the ball, but just a look at his injury record and you'd get a detached retina and a collapsed lung.

I wouldn't sign him for 30mil, let alone 80.

Assuming we get MGW over the line, that's a solid start to the window with he & Kudus. Let's not ruin it by signing new Sessegnons, Ndombeles or Lo Celsos.
he's had one major injury

last season groin - missed 17 games from Nov to Feb

"Hardly Hargreaves regen"

Of course he was rubbish his 1st season. He was a teenager with barely any Ligue 1 football under his belt. They’ve developed him. Bissouma was good for them but his limited passing will always hold him back. Baleba already passes the ball far more creativity.

Hjulmund would go for half or less the cost of either Wharton or Baleba, but of course is unproven in the epl. Still he’s probably the one I’d go for as he looks like he’s built for the epl. Then spend the other money on a LB like Robinson or Esteeve.

I think he is easily the best option. When you watch him play his style looks a match made in heaven for EPL. Has also captained the last two teams he has been in and brings a ton of fight.

Spurs fans are all talking about Wharton but I think this is a fantasy (a bit like Eze) rather than grounded in reality.

I think that position is difficult to fill anyway. At the moment we have five players competing for two 8/6 slots…

Bentancur
Bissouma
Gray
Bergvall
MGW if he arrives

Given the size of our squad and registration issues, I don’t see us buying another midfielder without selling. Bentancur was name dropped by Frank, the others are young and recent signings… so Bissouma has to go at a minimum before we buy.
Keeping the rumours alive gives great comfort to those who covet them.

This despite the fact Eze who we've been linked with for at least the last 4 windows has not received one enquiry for whole of the last calendar year.

As for Wharton other than the reported interest in him as a Blackburn player when we didn't think he was worth the £18m + add ons I doubt very much we'd fork anywhere near the rumoured £80m doing the rounds. Not to (too late I already did) mention the fact he has 4-5 years left on his contract and Parrish 's price tag for him is probably in the region of 'not for sale.'

80M is a huge sum. Who knows who they have up and coming or in the pipeline

If Wharton was availble for 60m, yes do the deal. But I dont think he will be.

IF we have that sort of money, then I wouldnt go for him if he cost > 60m.

There are far classier, dynamic targets for that money in Europe.
