Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Palhinha on loan males sense if we believe that our current midfielders have a lot of growth in them. It provides some experience and solidify for a year while Bergvall and Gray develop.

I still believe in Gray with some proper coaching.

Lange was very clear that we’re looking to become a premier destination for the world’s top talent and our transfer policy has reflected that. That necessarily means being patient and giving them time to develop. We don’t know who yet but I believe that 3/4 of our youngsters will become the kinds of top tier players that we would love to sign but wouldn’t be able to at their peak. I’m excited to see them develop under a proper coaching team.

We went for Tel cause of the Kane deal. No other reason, certainly not due to his skillset or failure of a loan spell.

We're going for Palhinha cause of the Kane deal. Doesn't matter he's bang average these days and never could pass.

We'll probably go after another Bayern reject shortly, depending on how much they still owe us.

Banter club.
Bullshit.

I wonder if Wissa might hold the key to unlocking MGW…

He reportedly wants us over Forest. Maybe if we tell them we’ll back off if they agree to sell to us, it could grease the wheels.

Not sure he’d want to go to Newcastle to be Isak’s understudy, so it could be a goer…

If we offered 70m plus a years supply of burgers would that convince the forest owner to sell MGW to us?

He's Greek.
Souvlaki, moussaka, pastitsio, gyro, baklava, lots and lots of baklava.

Fcuking love Greek food me.
Unlike Marinakis though, i only eat one meal at a time and only occasionally.
That said, at an all inclusive Greek restaurant tonight on holiday.
In Spain.

First thing - on EPL level Palhinha (not Paulinha) has, as you yourself mentioned, been fantastic. Only one in that list. Absolute class above. So thats that - in most games he is the 1st pick. Most likely paired up with Bergvall. So one who can actually attacks and other who is more focused on ball progression. Could also be midfield 3 in some instances where I'd pick Palhinha, Sarr/Bentancur and then Madders/Kudus.

Second thing - you just used the excuse "but Bayern wrote him off quickly" as an argument. I just pointed out that Gravenberch was also written off in similar fashion. They both stayed 1 year in BM and played almost identical minutes. But sure, if it does not suit your agenda, it is "silly" without further explanation. Good argument.

Third thing - Bergvall is COMPLETELY different player to Palhinha. They are not competing in the same position. If you do not understand that, I don't really know what to tell you. Regarding Bentancur - he is bit of jack of all trades. But he has never reached the level Pahlinha did in EPL. Not even close. He does some tracking, he does some passing, he does some carrying. Good squad player and fills the gap. Sometimes quite well, sometimes not so well. But he is way more of an #8 than #6.
palhinha may be off his best but he's still a proper defensive mid which we've lacked since wanyama and dier. a defensive mid isn't just a mid who hangs back and pitches in with defending. it's a skilled position that requires a careful reading of the game and knowing where and when to press and drop back, who to mark in the moment, recognizing dangers before they happen, etc.. a good one can really paper over cracks in a squad and i think we're desperate for an experienced one. i'll be thrilled if we get him in.

Business so far is just us treading water .. anyone who thinks it shows serious ambition to try and hijack a top 4 place is beyond delusional. At very best it is top 5, and I mean that as the best possible scenario because unless one of Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Woolwich have an unprecedented terrible season we have no shot.

Just very meh and tentative as always. Just doing enough for it to be an average window again while asking the manager to be some huge differential.

i'd guess the mgw mess is slowing us down. whether or not we buy and how we pay it out probably will have a knock on effect with further signings and i'm guessing he's the priority

I don't see how we don't end up with Gibbs-White. Forest fans know he wanted to leave and will never forgive him, and surely the manager would be questioning his commitment too.

But him and Kudus as the main signings is just a start. A very good start, but we need at least a couple more of similar stature through the door.

It sounds like everyone at Forest are resigned to MGW joining us bar the angry heroin smuggler.

Agreed - from all the games we are facing in upcoming season - there are more of such where other teams sit back, compared to those where they all out attack.

But that does not really diminish the value of DM in the side. Even when opposition push back. It is too simplistic to say "If he does not split opposition team open = he is useless against teams sitting deep". That is now how football really works. When we have trustworthy DM in the side, it means that many OTHER players can push higher and be less worried about their advances being exploited by opposition players in counter-attacks. So a quality DM can be useful also in the games where opposition sits deep.
No argument there, but you probably need a DM that is a bit less destroyer and a bit more technical than Palhinha. Doesn't have to be Pirlo.

That's the hope although very optimistic with the outgoings that would need to coincide with any signings.

MGW is the one for me. I think we will get him in the end but probably more than 60m which is why we have to compromise elsewhere.

Doubt it, the deal is done so there's literally nothing for us to do other than wait until Forest stop throwing a paddy.

People just need to wait cause the chances are we are working on shit in the background just like we were, before we bought Kudus and then the agreed to sign Gibbs White., the same folk were crying into their cornflakes about the board, lack of ambition, being left behind etc...blah blah so boring man lol

Grown men legit act like kids during Transfer Window time, it's funny as hell
