Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bar that 24 hour period of false hope (where we signed Kudus and MGW together), its been a tragic and frustrating Summer. 2 weeks on and the MGW deal looks more and more unlikely by the day (I still think it happens but its gone from 95% down to nearly 50%). Now we are being told that we need to sell players before we buy anyone else and it doesn't sound like anyone is interested in signing any of our rejects.

What are the chances we start next season with Ben Davies and Bissouma on the bench? What are the chances Richarlison is our only back up striker and he gets a long term injury a few games into the season? We've seen this video before!

Its tragic. Its frustrating. Someone like Romero must be having second thoughts again surely? He's far too good to be putting up with this continuous lack of ambition by the club.

That is because we are known to be difficult to negotiate with. Part of this is because Levy feels he always have to win when it comes to a transfer.

Yes.... Seeing as you didn't acknowledge my former point before now; it was a perfectly reasonable one too?

We signed Maddison & Johnson in the same window for circa 100m.

MGW & Kudus would be circa 115m

Again; not inconceivable the way fees are spiraling across the board each season.

How much the latter 2's wages would be; I currently have no idea.... Can't even recall seeing Kudus new wage reported, let alone MGWs.
We signed them for 87m from a relegated team and a relegation threatened team. Can you just not accept that it rarely happens? Do you have to argue the toss about everything?

You genuinely can’t be surprised by this can you?

This is how we’ve been going about our business for years now.

Will it be an unmitigated disaster? No, probably not. Will we left short in key areas? Yes, most likely.

Yeah and we are way too tight to write off assets like Gil. Even not releasing Ben Davies and giving him an extension was so tight. Basically hoping some championship club bids 1m-3m on him and its free money. When the most likely scenario is we just keep him now for the year and refuse to buy another left back as we don't have enough "space in the squad" and need to sell before we buy!

So if we can't sell Davies after giving him a year extension then we can't buy a replacement! Thats the Levy logic! We are leaving ourselves so exposed again!

No not surprised at all. In fact very predictable. Like I said, it was that 24 hour period that gave me false hope and made me think we were actually going to go for it this time!

Same old Spurs. Once the injuries come we'll fall apart. Carrying too many below average players in the squad who we can't sell and refuse to let go cheaply. And now we are saying we can't sign better players unless we sell them!

So WHERE they come from now is a further added factor? .......Aren't you just arguing the toss? (Afterall; save for some dicking around from Marinakis; MGW would be Spurs right now so all the "we'd never do that" talk is moot.)

Fact (as per my OG post) remains...... It wouldn't be an an precedent level of spending. Thus; drink down social media guff at your own 'peril'.

I actually get the need to sell, we’ve amassed such a bloated squad, and we’re not quite ruthless enough to force players out, which put us in this predicament.

All part of the Spurs summer transfer extravaganza.

Kepa..... Noorgaard...... Madueke..........

Have a word.

In the meantime; they're still grappling with Sporting over Gykores and the Zubemendi deal has been wrapped up since January.

"Glazing"....... In this context; see exaggerated credit... I'd say you were at it too now.

Meanwhile; the other fella lying that we only signed one player......

Were not allowed to acknowledge Tel, Vusko, Takai; but it's all golf claps for the scum? ......Fuck that.
Haha what an a load of shit. Quoting youth players as our new signings when Woolwich have signed all established PL players to strengthen their squad.

Tel joined us last January. Zubimendi signed for Woolwich this summer. Your mental gymnastics are embarrassing.

Will it really hurt you to admit Woolwich have shown far more ambition and have signed many new players who all strengthen their squad and we’ve signed one first team player?

Plus they will likely still sign Eze and Gyokores hasn’t even been confirmed yet. They’ve left us pissing in the wind and your first reaction is to have a go at fellow Spurs fans pointing it out? Weird

Yeah I agree to some extent but we are into the last week of July now and I'm not hearing a whisper of anyone being sold.

Bissouma, Son, Richarlison, Solomon, Gill, Ben Davies.. How many of these are going to be realistically sold? Imagine we loan out Gil and let him slowly run down his contract at this point. Ben Davies I don't know why we extended his contract if he's going to be taking up a squad place! The other 4 we should be able to get good money for but I'm not seeing anyone interested or making a serious effort.

So we are fucked if we are waiting to clear out all these before signing anyone else.

Scum haven't signed "6 or more" players.
We haven't signed "only Kudus".

I contradicted both those things and I am correct about both.

I made no comment about ambition.

Glazing the scum isn't my thing.... Nor is "gymnastics" on their behalf. I can see you're yet another here that's keen to do it though.

Earth calling Airfixx

Firstly it's 87m

Secondly neither were on big wages and it's was easier to negotiate being that one team had just been relegated and the other narrowly escaped relegation

Thirdly I said 2 starters...Johnson was brought in as competition for Kulu.

I said it rarely happens ffs. Instead of arguing and being pedantic you can just say "yes that's fair" like I said to you. Instead you decide to go around in circles.

Hard to argue with that but part of me hopes its just TF wanting to spend a bit of time with the squad and see what he has to work with before going out in the Transfer market - I think we get MGW and another in by the end of next week.
The squad is proper bloated though , we just need to be ruthless and write players off who we can't sell , I think one of the downsides of having such good facilities and being a London club is sometime players just don't want to leave and would behappy to see there contracts out with us.

I had only one point to establish in all this........... The spiraling minutia doesn't change my OG point about being led a dance by shit media.

But:

"I said it rarely happens ffs."

Well fair enough. If that's all you need me to conceed to.

Ultimately its just going to be another manager chucked under the bus. If you think its acceptable signing 1 proper player 3 weeks out of the season starting when you finished 17th and then talked about winning the league then not really sure its worth discussing.

If in the last 5 weeks of the window (should be before the season starts really given our schedule) we somehow bring in another 3 or 4 first team level players of really good quality then i'd hold my hands up and say fair play. As usual i highly doubt that happens because there is no real will to push on.

You aren’t correct. Mentioning two youth players we signed is embarrassing mate, sort it out.

We have signed one first team player this summer. We haven’t even got close to signing even another player who strengthens our squad, let alone the first team.

Even Norgaard who was Brentford captain walks into our team. So does Gyokores. Zubimendi. And apparently they want Eze too.

Madueke is a very good bench signing.

Who the fuck have we signed? Kudus. Even if you want to stretch and pretend Tel is a new signing, the jury is well out on him.

MGW would really help us but he isn’t here yet. Maybe he won’t be.

So far with our summer business we needed to close the gap on Woolwich. On the contrary, they’ve widened it.

How can it be Woolwich finish 2nd and we finish 17th, yet they are the ones who do more and better business? Ask yourself that?
