Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You’d think there’d be a real strong desire to bring top quality players in for the new Manager, coupled with the fact we’ve just won the Europa a real show of intent that we’ve turned a corner.I just don’t think we think like a big club.
Yes the MGW situation is unfortunate but bigger teams wouldn’t be standing still like we are.Happy to be proven wrong, although I won’t be holding my breath.

We don't think like a big FOOTBALL club, more like a big financial institution.

That's the real problem, always has been.

It does feel like a typical window thus far and yet the same ones pop every summer saying...it's only x amount of weeks in ffs....like they've been living on the fucking moon for the last 20 years and are oblivious to how this usually plays out.

How does it 'usually' play out?

Even if you ignore the loans-made-permanent, we've made 2 new new signings so far (Kudus and Takai) before anyone has left. If you include new options in the squad that weren't here at the start of last season, it's Vuskovic, Min-Hyeok, Tel, Danso.

Last summer it was Solanke, Grey, Bergvall, Odobert (£160m+)

The summer before it was Johnson, Maddison, Vicario, Van de Ven, Veliz, Phillips, Solomon (over £150m easily, plus Kulu & Porro made permanent for another £70m or so)

The summer before that it was Richarlison, Bissouma, Udogie, Spence, Perisic, Forster (over £120m easily, plus Romero made permanent)

It usually plays out by not doing enough, and sometimes nowhere near enough.

It's not just about transfer fees either, it's the wages we offer which restricts the quality of our recruitment massively.

And again, the cuntiest cunt of a club getting it done on a player we should be targeting whilst we fuck about with our latest excuse to not get a transfer done

We all know by now MGW will be the “we tried” and we’ll end up signing El Khanouss or Buonannote type fodder

Even if we wanted him, he'd pick chelsea over us because of the contract. He's not all that anyway.

Last summer was Solanke and bunch of teenagers that meant the wage bill was slashed.

For a season when we were meant to be challenging in Europe as well as Domestic

It was a scandalous summer for a club our size and I say that as someone who rates all of those teenagers we signed

Something about him gives me really bad vibes, probably just the yearly club hopping. Can’t see him being happy at Chelsea very long tbh.

He’s class but I agree on the wages. That’s part of my point

Players aren't choosing chelsea because of "wages" - they don't even pay that highly.

They choose them because they are practically giving them a guaranteed salary over their whole career, such is the length of the contracts. Lots of pros have commented on that aspect.
That is just stupidity and not a simple 'wages' matter

As much as I’ll criticise our clubs ambition, I’ll not criticise us not challenging Chelsea for players.

That club is an absolute crime ring that the Premier league is too scared to sort out. To be honest, any player that joins Chelsea, I simply question their mentality anyway, it’s only for financial reasons that you go there for a long contract and guaranteed cash, still a shit club, who now have partial history, but it’s all plastic, purchased and built on the backs of scum.
