Do you see the contradiction in your post? On the one hand you say that top players will not come to us because we're not an elite club and you follow it by saying we're not going after top players. Well, if they're not going to come to us, does it not make sense that we rarely pursue them?
And when we do try to go after top players, but don't get the deals over the line, a lot of people moan that it's all smoke and mirrors. When the reality is that we're option B or C for these players and as much as we might want them, they don't want us.

At this stage of the window, well at any stage really it will be opportunities, Grealish or Garnacho as their clubs are desperate to get rid, Palhinha as a loan/low fee as Bayern owe us dosh, Dibling in the last year of his contract, Wissa last year of his contract.
