Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We need to sell to buy
It's hard doing business with the CWC going on
It's impossible to improve a squad that finished 17th
Frank needs to assess his squad
We can't spend money we don't have
There's a stadium to pay for!
Hotels come first
Etc

You get the gist
Reminds me of the old Bill Madrid Bill Madrid summer transfer window "Excuse Bingo Card"

Used to be an annual staple on here 😂. I'll have to see if I can dig one out

This window is now looking like all the others. It's the bare minimum. We never fix all the gaps in our team. We will probably end it signing (if we are lucky) MGW and then it will be a couple of 20 mill punts /fillers who won't be up to standard, and the whole cycle repeats itself. Another frustrating season where we look on enviously at our rivals with an embarssments of riches etc etc

As we said a few weeks ago when Frank was appointed, it's basically all on him to be a miracle worker.

Chelsea building a squad for 4 competitions where they can rotate with no drop in quality. Woolwich same. Liverpool same. City there already. Newcastle haven't done much, but if they keep Isak, with Gordon and Elanga, that's a great forward line and Bruno, Tonali and Joelinton is one of the best midfields in the league.

Wtf are we doing?
if we sign mgw and and a player like pahlinha i'll be ok with the window. we strengthened with some proven talent and will take a season to see how what we have plays out with frank's tactics. i'd hope we'll further build next season and make a run at the title as levy claimed

In previous years, I’d agree with you, but the level of spending from those four is just on a different level this last six months.
The level of win-now aggression from Liverpool and Woolwich in particular just makes it really stark how far we have to climb.

City and Chelsea do what they do and I'm not really sure how much either are improving this summer, but the other two are going for it in a big way.

Surely we haven't heard the last of the House of Saud this window either.

Fully agree,
I also still expect to see a couple of outgoings to leave the squad even thinner. I can totally see Son leaving after the tour as one example.

Again its looking like we are putting all our eggs on kids.

I've heard Frank is good at coaching and I'll even buy that he can push this team up towards the Villa's of this world. But to get into the mix for top 4 with the tools he has he will have to be some kind of Wizard that makes Gandalf and Dumbledore look like a pair of jobbers.

Tomorrow never comes though. In 12 months time Bentancur will be gone on a free, Son and Davies out of contract, Romero will have a year left, ditto Richarlison and its another big rebuild. I'd also doubt we'd have CL football so less to spend, potentially better players pissed off by no CL. Opportunites like this summer dont come around often and we could set ourselves up for a few years if we were more proactive

He’ll be sold next summer then. Pointless signing.
Not if he's sold for more money than we paid.

You don't have to hit every ball for six. A club that wants to be active in youth development is going to have its fair share of modest profits on young acquisitions who never really contributed to our first team, that's just part of it.

He's only just turned 20 and he's heading back to a league where player value can accrue. Patience.

Unfortunately the owner has once again failed to attract any outside investment, so no chance of that happening.
