You’re getting old? I dont even buy green bananas these days

I think signing a player 2 years in advance is very much that definition
:mourweird:
He doesn't immediately improve us, he's a squad player. We should be doing this and we are...

We also need to give our new manager atleast 2 or 3 senior players ready to make an impact right now and ship those we know are not good enough or can't stay fit.

If spurs don't end up with MGW after triggering a release clause that has to be one of the most incompetent fudge ups I've seen in my time as a spurs fan

:roseunsure:

Being fair to them, it’s only a fudge up if they hang on to it like spoilt babies who don’t have the maturity to know when to move onto the next plan because

“it’s not fair Wah Wah Wah I wanted MGW and that mean fat man won’t let me take him”

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what we are doing right now. We’ve just let Chelsea sell Madueke and win loads of money at the Club World Cup so they can waltz in and take Xavi Simons. If we were a serious organization, we’d have moved on and got that done, or at least got it too far down the road for them to come in, before they managed to steal a march on the (best/next best) option.

Now we will scrabble around for last minute cheap deals on players like Ramsey or El Khanouss from Leicester. And I’ll be fucking in that players thread all season defending them and saying shit like “in a season or 2 they could easily overtake MGW or Xavi Simons”.

Season starts in 3 weeks, and we've only made one significant signing.

Tel I'm not sure about, although still young, and have seen very little to convince me he's going to be good enough long term for us. It's a punt imo, but he's certainly got some time on his side to show us what he's about.

Danso looks good though, but both these guys played a part last season.

Kudus is the only real signing we've made so far in my eyes, in terms of making a real impact on the first eleven.

We needed more quality though the door by this stage.

Yes things could change in that regard and we always cling on to that hope but it just feels all too familiar like it does every summer tbh.

It would be pretty obvious if we were showing some real ambition but it's just not the case.

It's not hard to understand.

We bought fairly cheap and well, for once, and it all came together under Poch. He built them players into a very good system, although interestingly, none of them went on to do anything much of note elsewhere after they left us apart from Walker, which I think showed how well Poch did.

But even at that time, we needed some statement signings, to really push the boat out to show we meant business and to get us over the line, and we didn't do that.

When you have the players coming out then and since saying the same then you know it’s the case. They wanted the players in themselves to push the team over the line.

So what you're saying is you don't actually care about having new players in the squad, you want it to be about something else that is the transfer circus.

The effective "it doesn't count", like it's a competition
Walob . He looks fantastic from what little I have seen and I am very positive . However let’s not be disingenuous and list him as a new signing in this window . If your argument is well he is new to the team it weakens any argument ref Tel and Danso being new additions . Can’t have it both ways .

My view for what it’s worth

Vuskovic could be a super star but who really knows
Tel pretty meh last season , but way too early to write off
Danso a pretty solid start and a very useful addition
Takai : I have no view , but minimal downside

Ah yes, Danso was technically done in January—but sure, let’s keep playing transfer window hopscotch. Why stop there? Let’s go ahead and count Richarlison under Postecoglou too, just for fun. This season’s impact? Great. But if we keep retrofitting deals like this, we’ll end up with another Kulusevski and Porro situation—where somehow their money spent became Ange’s fault.
I don't make the rules enfield - that's just how it is... when the whole league is zagging Levy always seems to be zigging. You rarely get a decent deal in January but for some reason we seem to always do our summer business in the prior January window when prices are high. And of course it means you have to count them as this summers deals because that is when they are made permanent.

Might be and prob is a load of nonsense but I’d rather read positive nonsense than the equally shite negative nonsense certain posters are writing in here. 🙂

MGW I still think will happen. Talks have been ongoing despite what the press are being told, and although Forest keep moving the proverbial goalposts every time his people feel they are making headway it suits nobody for him to stay.

Rodrygo interest is genuine from what I'm told.

We should start to see the outs next week, and more change at the top table within the next few weeks/months.”

Tuchel has stated, I believe, that he'll only be considering players playing CL Football for his squad.

Do you think MGW will gamble with his chances by staying with Forest, when he's guaranteed CL Football with us?
He’s moving like a man who’s absolutely willing to gamble his chances. And not being funny but even if we signed him, he’s still in a position similar to Maddison where he’d have to play his socks off for weeks/months at a time to have an argument over some of the names ahead of him.

Don’t think that is case.
Otherwise our goalkeeping situation will be interesting for example, we will be having to name Under 21 players.

Bowen, Mainoo, Gibbs-White, Gomes, Rogers, Konsa, Shaw, Eze, Toney, Guehi, Wharton, Maguire also in non Champions League teams and picked in latest squads, expect most will go to World Cup whether they move or not.
Now will his chances improve with a move to a CL side, sure if he is a starter and performs well, but certainly not black and white that it a champions league side or you’re not going, as I am not even sure there are 23 English players in the Champions League
