Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That's exactly what I'm saying. Our place in the pecking order is under constant threat amid a rising tide.

Everyone's is - and where we are in our proverbial 'rebuild' is making things look more bleak than it would have 5/6 years ago - for instance, when Woolwich were in theirs.

To avoid falling behind so much you have to forward plan and spend big. We are doing on of those things and aren't really doing the other to the levels of the teams above us.

The CL final run miracle, the initial sugar rush of Conte and the EL trophy have done an awful lot to mask how precipitously our competitive standing has fallen since the barren summer of 2018.

We've taken 427 points from the seven seasons since that summer all told. We took 507 points from the seven seasons prior to that.

And it was 406 in the seven years prior to that, which began with Jacques Santini.

We're in the process of returning to where we came from. This CL boost is a major, major opportunity to reverse that decline, but here we are letting that opportunity go begging.
Agree. Since our last 4th under Poch in 2019 which was largely achieved on fumes after a decent start we've finished 6th, 7th, 4th, 8th, 5th and 17th. The latter might be an anomaly but you can see the direction of travel.

Music….Daniel by Elton John

Daniel is leaving tonight on a plane
Heading to Lisbon, no stopping in Spain
I can see Daniel , chequebook in hand
Going to sign Morgan,so I understand.

They say Daniel has now made a bid
And the big,fat Greek guy wants to get rid
But Daniel is feeling a little unsure
Cause the Greek guy wants twenty more quid

Daniel my friend you are tighter than me
You will never ,ever pay such a big fee
Your chequebook is closed and put safely away
Safely locked up so you don’t have to pay.

Daniel is returning today on a plane
Smiling a lot and no stopping in Spain
And it looks like Daniel
Has done sod all once again.

Exciting transfer news - whilst Chelsea, Woolwich, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have massively strengthened their squads, it is believed that Spurs have added some players to their list of potential targets, are considering adding other targets to the list and may actually be discussing the possibility of preparing bids for other possible targets.
Exciting times indeed.

If we are going to play a 433, with Maddison and MGW/ANOther as 8’s then we could get away with Palhinha doing his basic hunter gatherer thing and water carrying for the two 8’s. Or if we were buying Wharton, a busy cunt like Palhinha would be an absolute necessity to cover for Wharton’s poor dynamism.

But a serious club would be going after Baleba, not the 30yo Palhinha.

This ownership is a masterclass in gaslighting.
Still pretending we’re chasing Gibbs-White, even though that deal flatlined ages ago when Marinakis acted like the release clause was a myth. Now we’re linked with players like Palhinha — who’ve already flopped — instead of going after actual quality. And when it all inevitably falls apart? Blame the manager, sack him, and start the cycle again. Every. Two. Years.
We deserve better.
