Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What does visible and widely reported even mean?

It’s transfer season, 99% of it is utter wank

The prevailing rule, generally, is when the BBC are reporting it, you know it is credible.

You can't actually believe it is gossip. Like straight-faced serious?

I mean, no one protests against the actual puppeteer - they just go after the puppet.

Joe Lewis (as the ultimate owner with the cash)
For Mr. Logic And Facts On The Internet I'm a bit surprised you aren't delving into the reality that ENIC is controlled by the Lewis Family Trust via its trustee(s), not Joe Lewis.

The club is worse?

No my friend, this is the best club in the world.

The owners are worse. You are the one making the claim that the owners are the club, not me.

"The owners" don't run the club - by claiming that the club aren't signing players or spending money, that is a criticism of the club.
The criticism of the owners stops and ends at investment issues.

And if you are criticising the owners for not investing, you're basically agreeing that we don't have enough money to sign players like Isak

The BBC never report anything that’s not true? On football transfers? You sure about that?

If there is a direct quote from anyone, then we can start to take it seriously. Outside of that, it’s bullshit most likely unless later confirmed

Not really

If you want to claim we did bid for MGW, you need some solid evidence of that.

I don’t need to prove it didn’t happen because I’m not claiming anything

Both of these are lame, boring shell games, I have to be frank.

A pox on both your houses.

Yeah I have no idea what you tried to say there. I hope you know at least.

Are you a fan of Tottenham Hotspur? Or a fan of ENIC and Levy?

If they sold would you still be a fan of the club?

....which is part of the stadium project and a necessary aspect of the planning approval.

There'd be credibility to these arguments if there was at least the slightest effort in research
Still makes Levy's statement that every penny earned goes back into the team. Look at the accounts and the amount spent in the last two years on fixed assets. No barriers to capital expenditure. When it comes to football though - " We can't spend what we don't have"

ENIC is 'controlled' by Collecott and Levy. It is owned by the Lewis trust. Ownership and Control are not the same.

ENIC has no assets except the club, so it is a dumb argument to focus it on that. The matter is that the ownership that has the capital to invest, doesn't. Levy and Collecott can't sit there and magic it up, it needs to come from the Lewis Family.

There's a whole different thread for this nonsense where it has been stated (and ignored) multiple times.

Net spend on teenagers and prospects on low wages isn’t the same as net spend on Florian Wirtz and god knows who else they want to sign now.

You act as if Liverpool didn't spend years being called the Dippers precisely because they followed a pragmatic, hidden-value approach to their transfer strategy. Even when Klopp came along they bought Bobby Firmino and Christian Benteke, and these were not Big Names that Big Clubs were competing for. Then they followed it up with Mane and Wijnaldum, with only us for competition there, and Salah came the following year as a Chelsea reject reborn at Roma.

Not a single one of these transfers was a marquee signing, not a single one was even over 40m pounds, and look where it got them. NOW they cam afford to spend the earth on whomever they want, because Klopp earned it.

But we're not competing with them. We're competing with Newcastle, and even in the past 3 years we've massively out-spent them. Here, take a look at this fun little chart I made (all prices in Euros, all data from transfermarkt: Spurs, Woolwich, Newcastle):

Spending.jpg

In case anyone is confused, we've been spending a lot of money to try and catch/keep up.

Edit: I can't get the Scum link to work because the forum autochanges to Woolwich, even in a URL.

Directorship and control are also not the same.

But anyway, you're embarrassing yourself. "Ah, but you didn't say the magic words to be allowed to criticize the club, which is actually this mysterious empty shell, you fool, you absolute rube. I am very intelligent!"

Okay, this guy is definitely an AI bot, right?

Only because you are failing to to grasp the separation of the NDP and the football club.

The accounts are clear - there's no diverting of funds into property. All of this is on companies house - it just appears quite obviously that you are filtering what you don't want to believe
