They were fresh, wanted CL (arguably for the revenue but still) and we bought some good players. We had a plan carried on from Pleat about good youngsters and as no one else was doing it, it worked really well. I also liked the way we flipped players quickly if they werent working.ENIC really did improve the team a lot in that initial phase once Levy figured out what he was doing. And it happened by spending a bunch of money and signing a bunch of players.
Jaynola in the bin? What did he do? Apart from hate all of our players and think they’re all shit
Does Ings take corners? From ‘What Lies Beneath’ on SC
I dwell in corners carved by time,
Where neither peak nor pit align.
Too lean for kings, too stout for thieves,
I pass in silence, dropped like leaves.
Fourfold I tread the spiral track,
Yet never lead, nor dare look back
Have fun, kids!!

Not taking a dig. But you come across to many of us a someone who would relentlessly defend Levy / ENIC with your life. Come what may.
If you find the time, sir, could you give an example of what you would describe as a totally unacceptable transfer window? You know, given our wealth, ticket prices, last years 17th place finish etc....Taking everything into account.
I'm sure such a theoretical scenario must exist. Even for you?
Really interested to hear it as it may help me and many others to understand your position more clearly.
Although, if you'd rather not, I understand. We'll just draw our own conclusions from that
Who the hell has Sunderland spent £107m on
Nice depiction of the transfer window being cooked up for us
The truth is, that number would be a lot lower if the business in the five years prior to THAT had been better-considered and better-funded.
A second serving , thanks
£70-80m of that is for Richarlison and Bissouma two players most Spurs Fans want rid of.Dross? No i wouldn't say that.
A lot of players who haven't lived up to their price tag (yet)

Most? Most on this forum maybe but I doubt that most Spurs fans 'want rid of' them. I have no proof of course - I just have doubts.£70-80m of that is for Richarlison and Bissouma two players most Spurs Fans want rid of.
There is an awful lot of dross though mate.Dross? No i wouldn't say that.

I'd put VDV in that class and arguably Porro as well, but you're right, there's just a very 6th place-y feeling about what we've been building.I mean in reality, when you take in to account we’ve spent all that money and haven’t signed any elite level player (bar arguably Romero) it really is incredible to have spent that figure on the calibre of player we’ve brought in.
