Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Palhinha rumours have died down.

Not sure on him, biggest concern is that he likes to put his foot in often going to ground with slide tackles. He has a record of collecting yellows. Will likely be suspended for a few games.

If he gets booked early in a game, does he become a redundant player for the rest of the match? If he can't do anything else aside from tackle then is it worth that gamble?

Number of times last season Bissouma and Bentancur were booked early in the first half leaving us with no resistance in midfield and free reign on the opposition to run at our 2 defenders led us to concede so many goals.
I think the difference between Palhinha and Bissouma is just footballing intelligence, never had a red card in the Premier league, 300 tackles and 27 yellows.

Also think he's got that fucking great ability to read the danger of the opposition attack and just take that yellow card to stop the play that City and all the other top clubs in Europe have in abundance. And again I think people are kind of expecting him to be a bum on the ball and he's absolutely not, one of my mates is a Fulham fan so I pretty much watch them every time they're on the telly (mostly to take the piss but they've been pretty good and fun since Silva came in tbf).

Have Aberdeen won the European Cup?

Aberdeen F.C. - Wikipedia

Aberdeen have won four Scottish league titles, eight Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups. They are also the only Scottish team to have won two European trophies, having won the European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup in 1983.

Just hypothetically speaking......

If arse get eze
If pool sell Diaz to Munich and sign isak
Munich sign Diaz
City are stacked
Psg have kvara

Where does rodrygo go? Very very few options left.

I feel a loan with option at 85m coming on.

Same with danso. Yes we still owe remaining payments for him but west have paid half hus transfer fee already?

All this spent x or y always give a distorted view.

Danso we paid a loan fee for in Jan to cover until the summer. When we made the deal permanent in July the pre-agreed fee then activated and payments will start from that point onwards. Typically something like 20% up front and then 20% on each anniversary over the next 4 years.

Which brings me to my next bug bear ... saying club X spent 400 million this summer is bullshit. What it means is club X have committed to spending 400 million over the course of the next 4 or 5 years. They then can get money for players leaving over similar periods. Net spend over a long period is almost impossible to track. What I do know is that, because we are terrible at selling players at the right time, and for the right price, our Net spend is inflated compared to other teams who spend bigger fees improving their first XI.

Much better to have 46 tough games (largely) in the championship, than 8 tests (champions league) and the odd ding dong against each other in the Scottish League.
Well, the flipside is that you don't play anyone anywhere near as good as Champions League sides in the Champo, plus a romp over Hamilton Accies isn't necessarily a total waste of a teenager's time.

The blend of different levels is an intriguing opportunity.

It still just comes back to us having absolute trust Mikey is going to play though, IMO. Mason and perhaps Chris Davies at Birmingham can offer that to us in a way others can't.

The one thing we most want to avoid is him being an unused sub week after week by like October when we can't recall him.
