Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The 3 new players are Kudus, Takai, and Vuskovic.

If we stick to the stone cold facts of the situation, which I'm sure people with an agenda will still want to twist:
  • We didn't "finish 17th" because of the players in the squad
    • In fact, most people spent half their keyboard bashing claiming that Ange was only losing games because Vicario, Romero and Van der Ven were injured - and that we'd easily be top 4 if they weren't, according to "the stats". We haven't sold any of that squad yet, so that argument seems to have dissipated
  • We finished 17th and lost 22 games because we had a manager that refused to do what was required to get points, and our setup was figured out by the Chelsea game.
Therefore, the hyperbole about "a squad that finished 17th" is disingenuous, because most of this squad also finished 5th the season before. We're missing Emerson Royal, Lo Celso, Hojbjerg, Skipp, and Werner - and no ones going to convince me they are the difference between 17th and 5th!

In essence, we've improved a lot on the 5th place team when you think we've brought in Kudus, Kinsky, Danso, Gray, Odobert and Solanke on top of that 23/24 squad - which at the absolute least keeps it as it was. Then we add in the likes of Vuskovic, who could have a big impact not least on depth (no idea on Takai or Min-Hyeok).

Then, on top of that, a difference manager who did a lot with far less at Brentford.

This isn't any endorsement of the current window or any suggestion that we need to stop there, but people melting about a "17th place side" and gushing over Woolwich need to get a grip

it's another pathetic window so far IMO. I think Kudus is a good buy, but he is the only player that walks into the first team. I haven't seen anything from Tel to say he will be a first team player. Some people suggest he is Son's replacement! Both purchases were based on opportunity, not who was the best player available. Paulina also stinks of Levy finding a deal rather than the best option. Chelsea or Woolwich would be going all out to get Wharton if that's what they needed.

Once again we are cutting corners when our rivals (well, our rivals when we were a top 6 side) push on. The gap is getting wider and wider.

Our failings are magnified when look at Woolwich showing the sort of ambition we can only dream of. You can call it bed wetting but we should expect much more from our club this summer . We have CL football and the shiny new stadium with all the concerts and events Levy could dream of, and we are still shopping like a mid-table side.

We let Poch's side rot because we were told we would reach the promised land. But the reality is more of the same shit.

I think Palhinha is actually a Frank push, he has similar stats to Norgaard who we were after until Woolwich stepped in.

So, you’d agree we are both chatting shit about imaginary transfers based on nothing more solid than a tweet?

If our recent transfers are anything to go by, then no one has been ITK. Most of our incomings have flown under the radar so I don't believe in most of the rumours

That doesn't mean I get upset with people posting BS nonsense from SC or other "ITKs", that does give us something to talk about/discuss in this thread

I do believe a Romano 'Here we go' means there's something about the talk, and I would be surprised if we weren't trying to get MGW in

Sorry but are you claiming that Vuskovic and Takai improve our team hence should both be starting over Romero and VDV?

This is quite a take lol

It feels like I'm sitting in a pub called The Spur.
Punters and a miserable bunch with half empty glasses.
They look over the road to The Arse and think: 'That's a lovely pub! Look, their glasses are half full!'

Why do we look at other teams' potential signings so optimistically and ours so pessimistically? Are we so afraid of failure?

There is only Cult here mate and it's the one that embraces mediocrity.

:nunothumb:

Shut-up

No, do we really see the best of Romero?

For Argentina he's a warrior, for us he's simply an employee.

I know the foreign cunts on here don't care about our lack of English players but I do.

Romero isn't leaving anytime soon anyway so it's all hypothetical, but I wouldn't be upset if he forced a move and we signed Branthwaite as his replacement.

To use your analogy, the pub is fine, the problem is, it's a sausage fest.

Needs a couple of stunners in to liven the place up.

I didn’t get upset either mate.

People tend to believe the FR catchphrase but he’s been wrong plenty of times. Ornstein has only really been considered reliable for a season or 2.

Transfer shit is there to be enjoyed but never taken as fact until the contract is signed

I really liked Palinha at Fulham and would be excited if we were signing him last summer. Now though it seems really underwhelming, after such a poor season in Germany where a top club have decided to get rid as soon as possible.

That worries me.

Just shows how pathetic we are run as a club, Woolwich sign one of the best talents in the game for their number 6, and we sign a Bayern reject for 20 mill. It's just another punt really.

Like ever though I hope it pays off for us. Meh
